“Ghost bikes,” riderless and painted white, were placed at two busy intersections in Portland, Ore., last October, makeshift memorials to two bicyclists killed when they were hit by trucks in accidents that month.

as a bike rider you always wonder if the risk is worth the reward when you're on the street with some knuckleheads that might have it all wrong

The first one white bike I ever saw (still there and rusting in Emeryville, CA) gave me the chills. Sorry to hear about 2in2months, truly sad. Here in SF 2 horrible accidents have also happened in the last month.

Just today I was almost hit by a tourist in my lovely little town. Luckily I was paying attention.

Some drivers don't even allow cyclists to ride in the street.Thats why some have moved to the sidewalks.This is a serious problem as more and more people use bikes instead of cars.
