63 years after one of WWII's greatest war correspondents was killed by a bullet on the battlefield, the last picture of Ernie Pyle is finally public. It may seem morbid to publish this photo after so many years, but it captures the very type of moment that Pyle would have written about the war. I believe his biographer said it best: "Ernie Pyle wanted people to see and understand the sacrifices that soldiers had to make, so it's fitting, in a way, that this photo of his own death... drives home the reality and the finality of that sacrifice."
