That's right. Fossil fuels could be better for the environment than plant-based fuels, according to two studies published last week. The authors claim almost all biofuels cause more greenhouse gas emissions than conventional fuels if the pollution caused by producing these "green" fuels is taken into account. So why are we just now learning about this? The lead scientist blames it on an "accounting error".
