"The Obama camp is saying that the superdelegates should follow the will of the people. The Clinton group responds that this eliminates the point of having the superdelegates at all.The superdelegates were instituted in 1982 to give insiders more control over a party that had begun to drift too close (in their view) to the hands of ordinary activists." - Economist

Check out the BBC's breakdown on the who/how/what of the superdelegates.

I'm for Obama. But if Hillary gets the nomination by winning the most pledged delegates, I will happily support her. However, if this gets decided by party insiders (call them what you will), I will NOT vote for either candidate. And what's more, I will NOT vote for any so called Superdelegate who happens to be down the ticket either. I don't care how long this stupid system has been in place. I hope the DNC thinks this through carefully. We are tired of having things decided in backrooms by people who supposedly know better than the voters who elected them. I hope the party leadership is taking into account what a large group of very disenfranchised voters would do to their numbers come November. Please don't take us for granted because you think were fed up with the Republicans. Many of us are just simply fed up.
