CNN is getting in on the citizen journalism game with a new website launching this week. The iReport initiative will soon have a home at iReport.com, a new Web site built entirely on user-produced news. CNN calls it the perfect place for
"wannabe Anderson Coopers to upload videos, photos and audio files through an easy-to-use interface. Visitors to the site can search for specific clips or sift through various news categories, such as politics or weather...The community will decide what the news is." Sound like any website we know?

  • The website's new but CNN iReport has been around a while. According to Wiki-take info with a grain of salt-pedia, it launched in August 2006 following "similar initiatives" like Wikinews whose history dates back to 2005 and NowPublic.com which also launched in 2005. And then there's Digg et al...
