Immigration will drive 82% of the U.S. population growth between now and 2050, according to a new report by the Pew Research Center. It's long and tedious, so here's the highlights: 1) The U.S. population will increase by nearly 50% by 2050 2) The Hispanic population will tripple 3) Whites, who currently account for two-thirds of the population, will become a minority (47%) 4) Within two decades the proportion of immigrants in the United States will surpass the peak reached more than a century ago. NOTE: The study does not include the impact of illegal immigrants. Nor does it factor in possible changes in immigration policies.

  • Interesting... hopefully race won't be an issue anymore by the time 2050 gets here.

  • i feel like whites have been a minority for a while now. But I think it has a humbling effect on white racists. When we're all one race in the future, I think we'll find that when racism is no longer a key issue to people, I fear we'll find other qualities to exploit like we always do.

    This will be great... maybe we'll stop worrying about race and focus more on what we have in common.
