"Parents have been objecting to a recent ban on strollers at the Union Hall bar in Brooklyn. "

I'm really, really hoping for the sake of New York's sanity that this is new hoax from Improv Everywhere.

If not, I see a phenomenal follow up to Hipster Olympics brewing. Where do to begin with the jokes? My sippy cup overfloweth!

Sigh, they are SO cute at that age.

Why would you bring your kid to a bar?

Call a babysitter, stay home. Think of the other people in the bar. Who wants to hear your kid yelping while they are trying to relax with a nice cold one ;)

Plus don't you have to be over 21?

Okay, Swiyyah - First of all, this is also a restaurant (read the article). So, you're saying that babies should not be allowed in restaurants, or what? Secondly, why do some people resent kids so much? Were you not one? Should parents not be allowed to grab a beer with friends during happy hour? Why is this inappropriate? Grabbing a beer is a lot different from getting wasted with your kid in tow, or do you think not? Do you know how hard it is to get a babysitter? Do you think parents of young children should simply never go out in public for fear of annoying the selfish people around them? Get some community spirit, will ya? It takes a village, ya know? Sheesh.

I agree with swiyya. and i'll answer Blazeboy and say that no babies should not be in resteraunts. And NO you should not be allowed to grab a beer with your kids in tow because others would also like to be able to enjoy their beers. You and your damn kids are not the only people who exist.
Pay a sitter, keep em home. Those of us that dont have kids and thus still have a life of our own dont want to hear your kids scream, babble, coo and throw crap.Your kids are your responsibility, not everyone else. Dont want to be a parent and get a sitter? well maybe you should have thought of that *before* you had em.
why is it selfish to want to be able to enjoy myself, but it's not selfish to expect everyone else to put up with your kids crap??? Seems to me its way more selfish and not to mention inconsiderate for you parents to expect us to put up with your kids crap. Now whose the selfish ones? Not to mention a bar probably isnt the best environment for a kid. Again parents are totally selfish.
Stop being cheap, selfish and inconsiderate and get a damn sitter. if its difficult to do so..well tuff! not my problem, you had em, you deal with em, but dont be selfish and force others to put up with them too
P.s. I dont resent kids...i love em. Its their selfish cheap ass inconsiderate parents who want to ruin everyone else's fun because you cant have fun anymore since you had kids, by taking your kids to places that are probably not the best place for kids. also wouldnt be a parent's job to teach their how to act in public?? how about actually being a parent and do that..unless of course they're too young ...gee maybe a sitter would come in handy

FunSized, your prejudice and self-righteousness are amazing. I don't have kids either and I am aware that kids in public can sometimes be annoying, but guess what? You simply do not have the right not to be annoyed. Yes, a restaurant/bar/brunch place can ban anyone the owners want from their establishment. Blacks, Jews, Women, Children, Muslims - anyone. Should they? Should we as a society be tolerant or intolerant? You have made your intolerance perfectly clear.
We are not talking about some broken-down sorry-ass barfly wanting to drag her young kids into a bar all night long because she's got to get her drink on. We are talking about young parents who'd like to get out of the house occasionally in the late afternoon and meet friends for a beer, or maybe brunch on the weekend. Why, just because of your prejudice against parents with small children, should they not venture out into public? Just because you are intolerant, they should be afraid?
And when a business extends some of its customers blind, selfish intolerance and prejudice into a policy, yeah, I'm gonna protest that.
Jesus, can't we just fucking get along? Life is full of minor inconveniences. Grow up, take a breath. It's really not that big of a deal.
