Pelosi and Reid are more interested in preserving the Democratic party than the constitution.

Traitors to the Constitution, all. So what makes anyone think the ones running for office now who are ALREADY in this Congress are really any better? And yes, that includes St. Obama who we aren't supposed to criticize because the media loves him. Personally, I have had it with all of them. NONE of them even want impeachment! What will we tell our children when they ask us WHY that didn't happen? That party allegiance right or WRONG comes before country? BS! They are all covering for Bush while they dazzle the ignorant crowds with Obama's "rock concerts." I truly am beginning to wonder whether or not I should even vote this November at all because it is so far gone that even Mr."Change" is more than likely blowing smoke up peoples' butts with his glowing speeches to soothe his own ego instead of telling the TRUTH. Where the hell are the crowds of Americans in the streets to defend this constitution now? They can go to a rally and hold up an Obama, Clinton, or McCain sign because it's FUN, but that is as far as it goes? So yes, welcome to East Germany and soon we will be reciting Pastor Niehmoller's phrase right here. Who will they now come for that we will sit idly by and watch it happen to until it is us?

No one talks about content anymore. Does the new senate bill provide protection to non-terrorists, or can any information obtained from servailance be used against anyone? Regarding Obama, I have no idea what he stands for because every time he starts to talk my brain spaces out. I literally am unable to absorb anything he says. Does anyone else have this problem?
-
Re: The comment about Obama and spacing out. Amen overide. So glad you said it because I thought maybe it was just me. As a matter of fact I'm not too sure any of the candidates are saying anything. Is this just me too? Feeling like there's too small of a minority paying attention to what's really happening in our government and not knowing what to do about it.

We should trust George this time he has our best interest in mind.... just like WMD's!

This horrible bill passed due to all those Bush democrats. If you go to senate.gov you can see exactly which ones including the short listed vp contendor Senator Evan Bayh from Indiana, whom voted to pass this bill. I urge you as I have already, to write them all condemning them for their vote and let them know we as Americans will not let this stand.

At least Obama voted against it. Hillary was too busy campaigning for her career to put the American people and our way of life first and VOTE. Not that she matters anyway. There were PLENTY of dems who voted for the bill.
Buh-bye democracy, hello fascism. -
Take action now! Tell Speaker Pelosi and Majority leader Hoyer to stand up for the rule of law. Last fall the House passed the RESTORE Act, a FISA reform bill that included solid oversight of domestic surveillance and did not contain retroactive immunity. Now because the House bill is so different from the legislation that the Senate just passed, there will be a conference between the leaders of the House and the Senate to decide what legislation both bodies will put forward for the President to sign.
Three out of the four committees in Congress that have worked on this FISA legislation have rejected retroactive immunity. Please join one last time and ask the House leadership to stand up, stand by their Restore Act, and report a bill that doesn't include retroactive immunity.

Actually, Obama ( who BTW, voted for reinstating The Patriot Act) voted against immunity but neither he nor Clinton were there for the final vote. But no, it really doesn't matter at this point. And I am tired of asking them to stand up. I have been asking them to stand up for the last eight years. How many times do we have to tell them how to do their damn job?

Democrats that need replaced. Bayh, Feinstein, Carper, Clinton, Conrad, Inouye, Johnson, Kohl, Landrieu, Lincoln, McCaskill, Mikulski, Nelson, Nelson, Pryor, Rockefeller, Salazar, Stabenow, and Webb think it's okay for the telephone companies and Internet service providers to help the government spy on us. Don't forget Pelosi and Reid because they are totally without guts.

Hey Mafioso, The idea is to talk about it and figure out what needs done. Also to find and share news the corporate media is ignoring. Find a petition and sign it, find a demonstration and join it. Better yet start your own.

Uhm, this is kind of a big deal.
-
Amen Maryilynn...
And here's the big lie from the article (seeminlgy written by one of the White House speech writers):
"This good bill passed by the Senate provides a long-term foundation for our intelligence community to monitor the communications of foreign terrorists in ways that are timely and effective and that also protect the liberties of Americans," Bush said.
Note he says LONG-TERM FOUNDATION...the sob.
what phukn terrorists do we really have IN the U.S. except HIM???...i swear i wish we had a hinkley for that lying mfer...and I hate to admit it but I think JanforGore is right. apparently congress is just as hi-jacked and puppeted...seems like Wexler is the only real American in the whole lot of 'em... it's absolutely freakishly amazing what's happening! We need an entirely new government...it's already completely out of control I fear. -
It's not easy to get rid of them but it's easier to get rid of the squirrels at the bottom of the tree than the ones at the top. Recall elections of the worst are the answer. We can do that. We have the list already from the FISA vote. Pick them off one at a time. Why not? It's our country, and our constitution they are destroying.

alright then Marilynn *shaking off discouragement* "why not"... =) not much else we actually have to lose really, is there. but we also need to supplant reps who'll constantly strive to get our rights back where they belong...that should be high priority. who're those people going to be I wonder...
-
We all received a most wonderful Valentine today from those in Congress. Did you see it? The House rejected Bush the Impeachable's politics of fear and his fascist need of the senate version of the FISA bill today. And Republicans walked out en masse. It seems the house was inudated with emails and phone calls imploring them to stand against blanket immunity for telecomms. The bill expires Saturday!!!!!
