Sorry Seattle, there is no saving your Sonics. That's the feeling of NBA commissioner David Stern, who said Saturday he expects the SuperSonics to leave the city, either this year or when their lease expires in 2010.
Sonics owner Clay Bennett has informed the league he plans to move the team to his hometown of Oklahoma City after this season. But a potential move is currently on hold after the city filed a lawsuit against the team, attempting to make it fulfill the terms of the lease.
Stern doesn't think there is much point.

The real losers in this story are the Seattle Supersonics employees. I feel so bad for them that they have to move to Oklahoma.

what a sad day in sports history. I can't even imagine a poster with basketball legends like the great Jack Sikma, Gus WIlliams, Downtown Freddie Brown, and Lenny Wilkens in front of a... cattle ranch? 2nd-rate oil derrick? what is there in Oklahoma?
