There are two important impeachment events this week in San Francisco
First, we want to remind you that tomorrow, Monday 18, President's
Day, Code Pink is holding a "Pink Slip Cheney" rally starting at
Market & Powell in San Francisco (the cable car turn around), from
1:00-2:30 PM, and moving from there to a party in front of Nancy
Pelosi's House, 2640 Broadway (between Scott and Divisadero) from
3:00-4:00 PM.
They are asking everyone to wear something pink and to bring laptops
to sign more people up for the Wexler impeachment petition. Prominent
impeachment activists, Chris Daly, Medea Benjamin, Cindy Sheehan,
Denis Burnstein, Peter Phillips, Cynthia McKinney and many more have
been invited, there will be music, skits and more. Sign up right
here, right now

And Second, Shirley Golub, who is challenging Nancy Pelosi for the
Democratic primary nomination in June will be leading an "On The
Table" rally in front of Nancy Pelosi's district office at 450 Golden
Gate Ave this coming Thursday, Feb 21, from 12 noon to 1:00 PM.
Bring your impeachment signs and banners to both events, and Shirley
will be at the Code Pink rally also with the new orange "Impeach
Both!!!" caps, collecting petitions signatures and everything else,
so look for her.
Please come out for one or both of these events. We are at the
critical tipping point right now, with the House finally having voted
out contempt against Bolton and Miers, and it is all because of you.
We need to rally as many people as we can to make a demonstration at
both these events and we can actually make impeachment a reality.
Please take action NOW, so we can win all victories that are supposed
to be ours, and forward this alert as widely as possible.
If you would like to get alerts like these, you can do so at

We all will Cosmo. Don't feel bad. I live SUPER close to SF, but I still won't be able to make it. =( But, at least we can bring attention to it the rallies, and to the momentum, in the hopes that others will attend. invite, invite, invite!
-
Looks like CA and Boston are the only two areas that are really getting behind the movement.
I'd hold one in Texas but with the concealed carry law, I'd have to hold it behind sandbags or with body armor.
I'm like Cosmo - there in spirit!
I think I'll call a few Radio Rightyland talk shows and tell them I'm having a pink slip for Cheney and Bush rally here in Texas. Maybe I can get out a "Honk for Impeachment" statement before they cut my mic.

To INO, COSMO, and all other non-SF residents, I'm about to post up another SWEET piece of activism for your consideration. I had it ready to go, but was clicking "submit" when I got the blue screen of death...grrrrr
-
-
I'm going to contact them and get help on how to organize one in my home district.
Thanks, AngelinaH

Inofuilwell, I'm leaving Texas ASAP because I can't stand the political ignorance coupled with know it all bravado. First both cars are repossessed then the house gets foreclosed and they still vote Republican. It seems like a George Bush mindset.

MM, I very much hate to make you "sicker" about the paradox that is "rednecked Texas". When I heard George Bush buffoons Gary McNamara and Eric Harley leading a listening audience made up of long-haul truckers in professing their mindless support for the Iraq War, hate for Democrats and support for neo-con ideas such as tax cuts for the wealthy and the globalization of the world's economy on their radio show, I KNEW the that Seinfeld's "Bizarro World" was in full bloom along with the wildflowers along Texas roadways.
Follow me now for just a second as we look at what hate does for logic.
Harley and McNamara host the "Midnight Trucking Show" on powerful WBAP 820 AM radio out of Fort Worth, Texas. Their show captures a huge number of the midnight to 5:00 AM guys out there driving big rigs all over the U.S.
The day after 9/11, station executives began reporting on the tragedy and after a couple of weeks of the call-in and talk radio format, changing from a lot of Country and Western music to an ever-increasing redneck-flavored program deservedly bashing Bin Laden, evolved into mirroring the other Texas bigots in Radio Rightyland and becoming a voice of divisiveness and unashamed Bush apologists..
Remember, Texas is where a few typically uniformed, reactionary rednecks actually worked themselves into an anti-Islamic rage after 9/11 and picked an innocent Hindu convenience store clerk and killed him because he had dark skin, spoke with an accent and wore a Turban for religious reasons.
Thankfully, they were charged and convicted but it didn't cure "{DUMB" and Eric Harley and Gary "Squeaky" McNamara have sold long-haul truckers on the unthinking pseudo-patriotism and wrongful support for an administration that is actually hurting truckers through programs like Cafta, Nafta and the extension of distances Mexican trucks and Mexican drivers can penetrate and lenghten their routes into the U.S.A.
So Marilyynn, if you really want to get sicker, take in the " The Midnight Trucking Radio Show" sometime when you're up late or can't sleep and marvel at how two second-rate DJ's have emulated more successful Radio Righties and have in so doing, captured a vehement audience that is ignorant enough to think that a Republican Administration is "on their team".
It seems that FINALLY, the incursion of Mexican trucks onto U.S. routes at the expense of U.S. drivers and owner-operators has finally turned Harley and McNamara into champions of reductions of these newly-expanded routes that have kept expanding for Mexican truckers.
While they have parted with the Bush Administration on this solo issue, they still have an army of drivers and owner-operators who are too brainwashed to see what is really happening to their incomes.
Only in the last few months have a few of their callers begun to minimally "get" what is really going on.
it just shows we need to bypass logic and and take a lead from Radio Righties and use these "pep rally" techniques to mobilize citizens.MM,. message me if you are really in Texas. I'm in the North Texas area in Fort Worth but it would be nice to know there is a kindred spirit here, too. Perhaps we could merge our email progressive support and contact groups and form a larger one that would make a dent in some of these Senatorial "hopeless cases" when it comes to shaming them into considering impeachment. LOL

Small world! My progressive brother and his family live in Rockwall. I'm there every major holiday because the other brother is a Bush Republican and lives only 3 miles from my house. LOL Our last "bad Thanksgiving Dinner was when I took OutFoxed to play on his dvd player. My Rockwall brother (a Phi Beta Kappa doctor), his family and mine were all huddled in front of the Republican brother's TV much to the dismay of the outnumbered republicans. When I realized they had quit watching, I apologized and left and my Progressive brother and his family followed us back to my house three miles away to finish watching Bill O'Loofah do over and over whatever he said he never did !
Are you serious about leaving Texas?
May be gone when you reply. I'm being informed I have a short "need now" grocery list before in the morning.
Later
Cosmo, PS - good one - Bush is a walking testimonial to the dumb feeding on the dumber.

Well...you'd think we'd be in the red more...considering everyone LOVES elmo...no one likes Bert.

Would Brown(ie) rank below those nasty, liberal Sesame Street ne'er-do-wells?
Great stuff, Chique.

Noise or honking is not unnecessary, uncivilized and it is not polite. Please do your activism, but do not be an un-responsible child.
-
stopnoise, I never use my horn, If I were there I'd make an exception in this case.

What's your deal stopnoise? Maybe if you hate noise so much you shouldn't live in a big city. Did that EVER occur to you?? I have NEVER heard of someone who was anti honking-for-activism... Next, you'll tell us not to march in the streets, because it will make it harder for you to walk. This is the city baby, deal with it! Things are HAPPENING...
-
My deal is that you are drowned in an acoustic misconception. What you are asking is for people to go out there and express their anti-social behavior to other citizens in the city. "AngelineH" What you are describing is the first uneducated misconception about social acoustics. It just appear to me that you do not have an acoustic education. You right now do not qualify to be a Citizen of San Francisco. In addition You are violating the Constitution of the United States of America in which concerns to the rights of the people to have peace and quietness.
Just be a good citizen ok! Do not abuse others!
-
Ha ha ha ha hah a hah ah a you're right, I don't have an education in social acoustics. Honestly, I am all for being respectful of peace and quiet....but this is a totally different situation. I think this is an issue that demands attention, and it involves all of us. This is a movement, and the people are crying out. Please do not try to deter us as we fight for your rights as well as our own. We will protest when necessary, but I promise we'll try to be quiet in between. Fair enough?
-
-
Stopnoise - I sympathize, but yo are over reacting considering the magnitude of the situation and short duration of this protest. I don't like noise either, but I'd make this an exception also.
I'd suggest you become more of an advocate for noise reduction - and by your level headed approach, you'd likely be taken seriously and people would gladly join your cause.
Just my noiseless opinion.

The point is to annoy. Sucks to be Pelosi's neighbors. Impeachment protests are more important than their temporary discomfort.
