JuicyCampus.com is a new website that allows for anonymous dish about other students' sexual exploits. It's causing quite a fervor on campuses. Have you had anything posted about you on this site? Are you sure? Might want to check to be sure...

  • Wow. I'm glad I'm not in college anymore.

    Phew!

  • Ugh. Just ugh.

Was anonymous cruelty always like this? Even before the internet, when hurtful rumor was an analog matter?

  • I guess this would be a good time to be a prude.

  • Mashable is reporting that JuicyCampus is down, and suggests the possibility that it's because of the Anti-Cyberbully Campaign.

  • The site isn't down, but it's access is being hindered by something or someone.

  • I think that something hindering its performance is what's know as 'rock bottom.'

  • this is appalling. Everyone deserves their own right to privacy, especially when it involves their sex life and partners.

  • I have a feeling that most people that hang out on that site aren't college students at all.

  • good point nolanpro.

It does lead to an interesting question though. How do we move from a sensationalist culture where scandal, sex, and violence attract mass following? Movies, TV Shows, Music, ... every arena for pop culture tends towards the low end of the scale. Are humans innately voyeuristic and drawn to drama, or is that just culture of the here and now?

  • I want to go load up JuicyCampus just to check to see if the site really is down, but there were all those trailers for that movie 'Untraceable' and I don't want to be complicit, etc., etc...
