- Gun Control (202)
american's are given the right to bear arms in the bill of rights for a very important reason... not for reasons of defense against aggression of others, but aggression of the government. to avoid tyranny. and if you don't believe this to be true, just look at your history. every evil dictator, tyrant, fascist, and every other horrid way to describe a flawed leader... their first step towards their reign was to disarm the citizenry. when the people are no longer able to defend themselves from tyranny, nothing is stopping leaders from becoming tyrants.
don't make me become a victim of a tyrannical society because you are too afraid of 1 person. throughout history the leading cause of unnatural death was murder by ONE'S OWN GOVERNMENT. not one lone nut with a gun.

I 100% agree with you. It is the sheep and their ignorance who will bring about the destruction of this great experiment in freedom and bring us back to all of the other forms of tyrannical government that have plagued this planet since the beginning of time! They just don't get it. Like children begging for candy except that candy is government hand-outs and those hand-outs are control over you!

i agree with what your saying, but I think there should be some more restrictions on guns and weapons in this country. how is it that underage people can get legal guns and go kill fellow students at their schools? I think the access is way too easy, but shouldn't be completely limited.

sorry, i can't back you at ALL in that response. don't think i'm some callous, uncaring person and am fine with turning away from tragic school shootings... they are sad, and i feel for the victims and their families.
however, there are 2 major reasons gun control has no effect on this:
1. if someone is going to go on a killing spree, i don't think legally obtaining guns is of great concern to them. they are already planning to break the law, so if they couldn't get the guns legally, they would obtain them on the black market.
2. nobody hears of the school shootings where the other students who had legal guns on them were able to defend themselves and their fellow students (it has happened tho). the media tosses out these stories, because they don't play into the 'gun control needed to keep our kids safe' kick they are on. if someone has a gun, it doesn't mean they are more likely to kill someone. someone who wants to commit murder can do it in more ways than with a gun, and will find a way. guns aren't the problem. people are. so don't punish me for other's problems. just like drugs, marriage, prostitution, or anything else (including property i own, like a gun)... it's nobody's business but my own, and when you try to regulate that, you become a tyrannical state. -
ps. if you label them as 'underage' it means there are already restrictions up against them, and they broke them.
so, how are putting up more restrictions doing anything to stop them? -
that's very true, i was just saying that it's scary how anyone can get a gun, via catalog of superstore. i think it's a bit scary that there isn't a lot of control, so anyone can get one. I do believe people should have them though, for safety reasons but I also think they should pay more attention to who is exactly getting the guns. Maybe if they did, these kids wouldn't have had the weapons, but as for getting them on the black market, yeah they can, but that would have been harder than having it express mailed to their house.
i also agree with how the media puts only certain stories out, that's true.-

danadanish they already have controls over who "legally" gets guns its called the National Instant Check System which is required for every gun purchase from a gun dealer. However criminals do not go through this process as law-abiding citizens already do or they subvert this with "straw-purchasing" where someone with a clean record buys a gun for a felon. That is already a federal felony. You cannot control who gets guns, period. It is impossible. The people who should not have them get them anyway. There is no system that will stop this because criminals never obey laws. Also your "mail-in catalogs" and online purchases are still under the guises of the Gun Control Act of 1968 meaning any gun purchased through these means must be shipped to a gun dealer and you must go through a rigorous background check and fill out forms before you even touch it. The senders are also required to abide by these laws or they are immediately shut down or jailed. I know this because I have ordered guns online and every one has been sent to a federal firearms license dealer where I had to go through the background checks and fill out those forms. Also depending on the 20,000+ unconsitutional gun laws on the books and depending on what state, city, or county you live in they will not ship to you at all. If you do not believe me check these links that I have provided from certain sites that say the same thing I have said:

thank you scott. we just had another cop stop by today to "check for illegal weapons in the house". of course we sent him on his way without stepping foot in the house, but how much longer will this be a possibility? how long till the cops can march in without a warrant and raid through your home under the guise of 'safety'?
it's guns now. how long till there is no reason? -
its already happening in that same situation you have just described where the majority of people do not know their rights and allow the cops to come in anyway. they would rather care about american idol, mtv, what clothes to wear, who to f***, what tv to buy, materialism in general to give a rat's a** about their rights which the government has stripped from us in the past 20th century alone if they had a single clue. more people in the 20th century have died from free speech than from all wars and criminal gun use combined. they just don't get it and never will. in my opinion we have lost reason since 1934 when they thought regulating machine guns, short-barreled rifles and shotguns, and AOW's would have an effect on crime and make criminals who never obey the laws anyway balk at the ability to get one. from there it has just gotten worse and more retarded.

scott, okay i see what your saying and i understand it, i believe what your saying, i dont need links, lol.

" I got a gun! fact I got two!
that's okay man cause I love god. "
make guns unavailable for purchase on the internet.
initiate trade-in programs for the impoverished.
outlaw all automatic rifles.
keep the mentally unstable from obtaining them legally.
and i'm sure there's more we could do.
if humans cant be trusted with guns, they need to be taken away. Same applies to nuclear bombs. As long as guns are made readily available to anyone with a bone to pick, we'll continue to see stories like Colombine, VTech, and the rest.-

wow, just wow, your ignorance just blows me away! before you make these random, incoherent comments with no basis in fact but blind emotion why don't you do your research before you spit out your ignorance. i have and everything you say is just WRONG! Guns are NOT readily available. And what part of CRIMINALS DO NOT OBEY LAWS DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND? You have to go through background checks just like when buying firearms through the internet they go to a dealer NOT to your house. They already have federal laws against mentally unstable people getting firearms, it is called actually enforcing the laws. If you actually READ the previous posts you would have a clue, idiot! Also machine guns are already virtually ILLEGAL. They have been this way since 1986. Getting a machine gun is way harder to get than a regular gun. Like submitting fingerprints, photographs, government fees, two background checks more strenuous as well as a limited government market. Only the rich and famous can afford them. So yea, just like prohibition during the 20's and the war on drugs right now which I am sure you are against what makes you think that banning firearms or restricting them will be any different? Are you that naive?? And before you start claiming how the U.K. and other countries are gun-free paradises think again. U.K. crime rates have skyrocketed!! Like I said, DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE YOU SPIT OUT YOUR BLIND IGNORANCE!!

ever had a gun put to your head? didn't think so.

yea I have had a gun to my head and I am lucky he didnt pull the trigger since he wanted my money but i have the fortitude to not blame the mere tool and let it run my life. i blame the individual for doing it and from there I own many guns and refuse to be a victim ever again. GUNS ARE TOOLS THEY HAVE NO VOLITION OF THEIR OWN!! Just because people misuse them does not mean they should or can be banned. Emotion does not beat fact at all and 253 journal articles, 99 books, and 43 government publications prove gun control do not work while any study conducted for it has been fundamentally biased, broad, and agenda-driven.
-
it's funny because i was being serious with that comment. looking back i didn't really express what i was trying to say the right way, what i meant was that scott over there proved a really valid point to me and made me reconsider my opinion on the matter. i was complimenting him not saying he was wrong. what i meant by not needing links was that i understood what you were saying clearly and he didn't need to back it up.
anyways stephan has a point too, a valid one, you can't just deny all truth in it.
so please don't call people ignorant without knowing them personally, it really proves that your a bit hypocritial and a bit nasty. we're not here to fight with people over issues, we're here to learn about them, okay?-
