Westboro Baptist Church Preaches Message of Love?

The Westboro Baptist Church (WBC) plans to picket the funerals of 7 people that were killed in a violent car crash, simply because they lived in Maryland. The following quote has been taken from flyers passed out by them.
"God Hates Maryland. Thank God for 7 violent deaths in highway crash earlier today at Accokeek, Maryland."
It goes on to say that the funerals are mockery of God and that they will be picketed.
Such a demonstration is not unprecedented as they seem to picket anything that is deemed sinful. Naturally they quote scripture to justify their actions.

Seems to me that these people are being political on our dime. Someone needs to investigate their tax free status,
