"Handcuffs and condoms are replacing textbooks for a growing number of students who enter prostitution to pay for university."
According to this report, the number of students who work in the sex industry to meet their financial needs during university is on the rise, up 50 percent in the last 7 years. The rising costs of tuition continues to be a huge burden on students. Would you ever go to such lengths to pay for school?

No. I'd much rather go into debt. It may take a long time to pay back, but it's a lot safer, and doesn't come with self-esteem issues.
-
I use to ask friends (men) this question......
"If someone offered you a MILLION dollars cash, in a brief case on hand, would you bend over for 10 minutes?"
50/50 said they would do it for the money. In fact, some people want the opportunity. ha ha ha. -
everybody does what they can...

It is a very sad state of affairs - to say the least. It's innocence lost. But really, is much difference between getting screwed by the credit card company charging you $30.00 because you went $.05 over your credit limit - that they allowed?
Funny, that while America's children suffer, big business is doing very well.
Gee, maybe it's time for Busheney to give the wealthiest some more welfare assistance so they can go pay for sex with college students - you know, help them out.-

Tori, you're right, it may be a lot safer, but being in debt is strongly tied to most people's self-esteem. I have a pretty good pile of debt that I accumulated in achieving my college education, but I don't let it get me down, I just focus on paying it down and counting my blessings. Some people have a harder time and let their debt consume them and bring them down.
Stripping to pay for school? O.K. Prostitution to pay for school? No. It's hard to imagine learning anything in school that would justify such extreme measures.

Ya, I'd have to agree with covelogibbs - there are so many other ways to go if you can't afford college, you don't need to resort to prostitution - unless tuition is just a convenient excuse.
College is not the only way to go - that's rubbish! A smart motivated person has lots and lots of avenues.-

Young women who have made the choice to expose themselves to men for money have a sharpened sense of what their time & value is. They make better business decisions & have a true understanding of men. The down side is the these same women become mistrusting, manipulative, golddiggers that have little patience for short money.
-
Nope. Fight through the struggle rather then to fall into something easy.

It’s so easy to scrutinize and judge someone when you’re not in their shoes. I don’t agree with selling your body for a few hundred bucks for college, but then again some people don’t have any other choice. Not everyone has the same resources. My parents didn’t tell me to apply for scholarships, grants, or get financial. Why? Well they didn’t know any better and now I am left to pay for school and of course they help out. It’s easy to say, “There’s help out there!” but it is harder to find it. We are also taught that debt will eat us alive and in order to prevent that people will go to the extreme to make sure they stay away from debts wrath. College loans are not approved as easily as before. Some students don’t have credit lines and so they are denied funding. I think education has become a luxury like having a teacup yorkie; it’s nice to have but expensive to get.

Voyager Films gets credit for this but I wish I had said it first. At least I repeated what I consider to be the state of affairs in the U.S. today. Well said, VF!!!!

This is so true, I see ads on Craigslist almost every time that I have browsed the personals that say things like that they are a student and need help with money or would trade erotic services for money to pay for tuition and books.
It is very sad that in this country, a college education shouldn't cost as much as buying a house. That is a crime. -
Such prudes... what is possibly wrong with sex and making money? Don't you want more of both? Have you been on campus recently? Bodies is jumping out of them clothes...
-
Someone likes Craiglist personals.... lol

Education has such a monopoly on the "value" of their degrees that at some point people are going to have to realize that sometimes a higher education doesn't have to come from a brand name university.

It's a f**ked up trend, that need's to be stopped...Plus it's mostly done thru Adult Social Networking Website's that Promote the idea that this s**t's okay, and thru these Money hungry Predatorial Adult site's they encourage and make it easier for young women to exploit themselve's to Men for money...Basically in Pimp term's they,"Turn them out"...and since it fast cash, it influnce's struggling Young women to eventually turn trick's and become hooker's or pornstar's rather then to go on with school, cause it's faster cash...and that's sad.,Naw-it's a waste of a good mind and person...and it's a secret epidemic....think about it ladie's being labeled as a dumb whore who hold's the record for the most B.J's in one day with random men,or as someone who's made a REAL POSITIVE DIFFERENCE in Life, someone who has succeded in life and maybe even history,.......hhhhmmmm...

People are better off going to a trade school in most cases. Majority of college students drop out in the first year anyways. The higher education system is good in some aspects and in others it is a complete fraud. Suicide is high among college students. Living away from home for the first time, people learn valuable life and survival skils. exploiting yourself (excuse the pun) is the oldest trick in the book. Most people would have been better off in life if they went and learned how to be a chef, mechanic, truck driver computer tech, plumber, welder or something that would enable them to make a living, instead of going to college. So many people, even after earning a degree, have to live with their parents anyways.

a college education doesn't have to be expensive. there are numerous scholarships and grants available, as well as universities like stanford that are radically changing their financial aid program to lower tuition costs for lower income families. - - stanford is no longer charging tuition for students whose families earn less than $100,000/yr, and in addition, is waiving dorm costs for students whose families earn less than $60,000/yr.

Rawbird, LOL! Oh, wait, that shit isn't funny. If you were talking about an occupation with sick leave, benefits, workers comp, etc, than yeah, I would be a prude, but you're not and I'm not. Should prostitution be legal? Of course it should be, but until it's legal and safer for sex workers, there's something wrong with it.
