This is quite amazing..
If you see this lady turning in clockwise you are using your right brain.
If you see it the other way, you are using left brain.
Some people do see both w ays, b ut most people see it only one way.
See if you can make her go one way and then the other by
shifting the brain's current.
BOTH DIRECTIONS CAN BE SEEN
Experimentation has shown that the two different sides, or hemispheres,
of the brain are responsible for different manners of thinking.
The following table illustrates the differences between left-brain and
right-brain thinking:
Left Brain Right Brain
Logical Random
Sequential Intuitive
Rational Holistic
Analytical Synthesizing
Objective Subjective
Looks at Looks at
parts wholes
Most individuals have a distinct preference for one of
these styles of thinking. Some, however, are more
whole-brained and equally adept at both modes.
In general, schools tend t o favo r l eft-brain modes of
thinking, while downplaying the right-brain activities.
Left-brain scholastic subjects focus on logical thinking,
analysis, and accuracy. Right-brained subjects, on the
other hand, focus on aesthetics, feeling, and creativity.
If you look away, she may switch from one direction to the other.
I found that if I just look at her feet or relax and look at the floor
where the reflection shows, she will switch direction!
Which direction do you see?

i can't see her going counterclock at all. maybe this is a reflection of why i'm so annoyed by left brain expectations.

I figured out a method to transfer the attention of my right brain over to my left-brain, just close your right eye for a few seconds and look with your left eye if you want to see her go counter clock-wise, do the exact opposite if you want the opposite effect. It took me a few minutes because I am chiefly a right-brain individual, LOL that was a cool experience lOL nice subject -JUBAL Reminds me of the Cube Perspective from my psychology studies.

Life is all about perspective, and we can obviously alter it with the power of the mind, shifting the attention of ones consciousness takes practice though.

My father and nephews went crazy over this thing because each of them said they saw her moving in different directions and started arguing about it.
One of my nephews was skeptical and insisted that she changes directions in regular intervals.
I believe it is possible to settle this once and for all.
This image is an animated gif. When I get home from work I am going to break down each of the frames of this animation and see if in fact it does switch. I will report back to you all or publish the results here.

I just looked at it again and I see both directions. What I do to get it to change directions is focus on the shadow at the bottom and allow my brain to relax into the change; it works for me.
-
The shift happens quite abruptly for me....

Hey I finally got it to spin the other way. I had to face left and look out the very corner of my right eye. It almost hurt, but she would occasionally shift. I actaully saw her just go back and forth much more easily and not complete the circle. I guess this means I use way too much of one side of my brain!!!!Thanks for all the help.
-
Ahh I can't see her the other way! This is frustrating.
-
You have to look out the very corner of you eye. hard cause I wear glasses. If I turn to look straight on she switches back. I did it for a long time. Home sick so I had time to kill!!!!
-
It just switches!

AT the beginning it was frustrating becasue I could only see her going clockwise however after following your tip I managed to see her going the opposite way and now I find that even looking withthe corner of the other eye 'shifts' her direction. At first I needed verbal cues but after a few mins of practice ( had to make effort to see her going anti-clock), it works both ways now and I can switch at will looking directly at the picture. Lots of learnign taking place lol and it also made me laugh a lot. Interesting the eys moving technique, I bet a lot of NLP connaisseurs could explain why it works. Also explains why when I try to think deeply(or daydream, for that matter), I at least always shift/hide my gaze left or right. Could that mean my brain is tryin to access both emispheres' resources?

Wow, this is an ironic, interesting coincidence. All my life I've been this crazy mess between both brains. I'm great at math, analysis, and oddly even with directions but I'm also wonderful with art and music. I've always been able to switch brain currents abruptly, which tends to put my brain on overdrive. This is most likely the cause of my migraines and borderline schizophrenic tendency to adapt accordingly to environmental changes.
Anyways, when I first looked at the spinning girl she went clockwise, then I looked to read what that meant and when I looked back she was spinning counter clockwise. After reading all the comments and suggestions all she did was spin clockwise. I then discovered that when you cover everything but her knee down she easily shifts. Her foot also appears only to be going back and forth instead of circling around. Just move the page up and down after you adjust the direction you wish for her to go. That's just another suggestion for people who can't shift her.-
