At least according to a high ranking Romanian official and veteran who spoke anonymously to the AP.

"CIA chief spokesman Mark Mansfield said the agency had no comment about the black bus scenario, but he defended renditions as both legal and effective."

Moving people around to countries that permit abuses (or at least look the other way) in order to torture them? WTF?!

    Those "terrorists" just hate us for our freedom, right?

    I've always wondered if they would be trying to blow us up if we westerners hadn't been over there doing what we do to for so long?? One side's terrorist is another side's resistance movement. Lest we forget why we are in Iraq, rounding up Iraqis who are only defending their homeland against us -- the invader, while the person we were supposed to go after is still free and our president and at least one leading presidential candidate are taking money from his family.

    The point is moot.

    So, now we only wag our heads at what our government does. As if we have any choice. We can either keep our mouths shut, complain without result, or do what other cultures do: End up in little chunks on a wall or face down in a vat of water after being locked away for years. Of course, should you do the latter, you will be known only as a terrorist. The cycle repeats itself.

    These are the same fanatics that blow up woman and children. The same type of people that blew up the World Trade Center and MURDERED thousands of innocent people.

    Do you read the paper? Watch the news? These suicidal monsters blow up their own people every day. They walk into candy stores where children reside and explode themselves, killing tens, maybe hundreds of kids. They brainwash their women to go and blow themselves up. They've recruited mentally challenged individuals to do the same. These are the guys who behead US soldiers and reporters with a dull blade. You don't think they torture anyone? Please.

    It's ironic how they preach so much about religion. What kind of religion supports that? Definitely not Islam. Things have gotten so twisted due to our involvment in Iraq. I don't think we should have ever went there, however, it is what it is. Why should we show these non-humans any mercy? Like one of you said, it's not like we're moving girl scouts around. These are heartless murderers who kill their own people in the name of Islam. They deserve torture. They deserve the excrutiating pain that they have inflicted or planned on inflicting to others. What comes around, goes around.

  • I agree . . . what comes around goes around. Whether it be Islamofascist or neo-con christians. Everyone is so eager to jump in and start blowing everything and everyone up.

    We don't want to look at the root causes of why all this nonsense is going to down in the first place. Yes, these insane fanatics are completely looney. They are systematic in their stupidity. So, let's go in and bomb the hell out of entire neighborhoods making more nutjobs. Let's take these nutjobs and torture them giving more fodder to the growing pile of reasons why they should be nutjobs.

    It's kind of like, I'm a dad. I walk into my sons room and take his stereo. He fights back, so I knock the piss out of him. I come back the next day and take his pillow. He fights back again, so I knock the piss out of him. He gets fed up and starts knocking holes in the walls, beating his sister up and cursing at his mother. So, being the mature adult father, I go and beat the living hell out of him and destroy his room in the process.

    And then I wonder why in god's name he is so angry all the time. Yes, it's a metaphor that will break down if you want to critique it, but I think it is representative of the general population.

    Another reason this whole "secret torture" stuff is way out of line: Our government has no accountability. We may agree whether or not these nutjobs deserve what they get because they do what they do, But what happens when Americans who are tired of their rights being systematically stripped away get fed up with a government that has no accountability. These "terrorist" are rounded up and thrown into camps to be held, tortured for information, left to rot if not outright killed in a "confrontation."

    It sounds extreme and fanatical, but just a few years ago things like the patriot act, black water, libby and and the other crap that we have now would have sounded completely absurd.
