Look at this 1950's public information film about equal rights for women. So ahead of its time...

Man, phillyharper, I really hope that your comment is ironic cos that film was clearly not made in the 1950s :o)

The era of "Rosie, the Riviter" was amazing. Stay at home women found out that they could handle just about any job that a man could during wartime. The only real obstacle? Men, still in charge. When the soldiers came marching home, the propaganda machine that inspired women to work was quashed by those same men. They were told to go back home to the kitchen and the kids. The arguement being that those soldiers needed their jobs back. Women out, men in. All advertising aimed at women returned to homemaking. I find that as depressing as when MLK and Robert Kennedy were shot. This country was severely numbed by those losses and hasn't been okay since. Current.com fights the battle against widespread ignorance by supplying much needed enlightenment for all. This tragically humourous piece is a great example. Thanks.
