  • What are you buying next time?
  • look at that fat happy rich bastard, makes millions selling you hummer, sure he doesn't give a dawn about global warming!
He's too rich and too old and just wants to keep it as it is now, anything that would ask him work harder or be smarter without even taking about to sacrifise his lifestyle! for what? a bunch of penguin....
no way, anyway i got AC, so no fear of warming....
    save the planet, buy japanese

  • If you buy that Japanese car carefully it is American made. More than can be said of many "American" cars.
  • Yet another reason I may not ever buy GM.

  • Gah, just when I was thinking of buying American too.

  • Meh, I drive a 1990 Geo Metro. Here's the kicker, my car is 18 years old, has 196,000 miles, and gets about 38mpg when I drive with a lead foot, better than 40 when I don't. Even funnier, when it was new it got 50mpg. There are no cars either made or sold within the United States today that get better mileage unless they are hybrids. So I ask, why in the name of hell does a car that is almost 20 years old get better gas mileage than any brand new conventional car sold in this country?

I had hopes for the Smart Car, which got 70mpg with its 660cc 3 cylinder diesel engine in the rest of the world. However, here in the United States that engine does not meet emission "standards" and they replaced it with a 1 liter gasoline engine that gets about 45mpg. This is a gross example of corporate corruption effecting politics. The gas companies don't want people to drive a car that sips the fuel because it will cut into their profits, and there is a misleading problem with the fact that the European engine does not meet emission standards. The United States measures its emission standards by how many of what pollutants the car puts out per gallon of fuel, not how many of what pollutants it puts out per mile. A car that puts out more pollutants per gallon of gas than a pickup truck can easily blow the truck off of the road when compared to the emissions it puts out per mile. But I'm going off on a mildly random tangent.

My final opinion, let the guy go bankrupt. GM is slowly loosing ground as the number 1 car seller in the United States to Japanese car companies. If the stupid bastard is arrogant enough to fight the tides of change rather than flow with them, then let him drown in the ocean of the real world.

  • I just love all these Asian auto freaks, who are saving the world, and helping to destroy American industry.
Hope you like rice as a steady diet!

  • jerrye, GM shipped their manufacturing to Mexico years ago. So I guess we eat tacos instead? NAFTA has made the exodus even easier. They are packing up and leaving. Has nothing to do with who's buying, has to do with greed.
  • He's an accomplice in murder.

  • Yes he is.
  • GM, Ford, Toyota, American, Foreign, DOES NOT MATTER. Toyota would just as happily sell you a gas guzzling "Tundra"

what matters is that we're being sold old Earth-killing technology.

Have you realized? Our machines and devices are more than we're ecologically entitled to. We've all been living way too large, built our walls up way too high. lost sight of the sky, of time, and of the beautiful symbiosis we no longer pertain to.

and the kicker is, it never made us any happier.

  • I did. Who destroyed the electric car? GM and big oil.
  • I have never owned a car for my 29 years on this planet, I'd like to think that never owning a car would in some small way help the environment, then I look at my brother in law, he owns four vehicles, two trucks an SUV and a sedan...

Oh and we don't need to worry about global warming, nuclear winter will cancel it out.

  • Though it is true that Japanese car manufacturers like Toyota are still happy to sell us gas guzzlers like the Tundra, they are also happy to sell us hybrids like the Prius. GMC is the only American car company who is STARTING to develop a hybrid car. And until they finally produce that hybrid, GMC, as well as all of the other cars sold within our country, are bragging about the incredible fuel economy of their compact cars even though compact cars have been getting that kind of gas mileage OR BETTER for the past 25 years.

On top of that there are two ways that our beloved American car companies could prevent the Japanese from stealing our market. First, decide to compete in the areas where the Japanese are kicking our asses instead of trying to pump out the same crap they always have. Unlike the Competition the big 3 got from Preston Tucker in 1948 for trying to manufacture and sell a better car, the government can't really step in and eliminate the competition. Second, keep the jobs in the country. It might be good for business, but it destroys our nations economy if you ship jobs to another country because its cheaper.

  • Another filthy rich, white bastard telling us what's best for us. I wouldn't buy a used Hummer from this man, let alone believe what he says about global warming.
