Is Obama Safe?

Many wonder if Barack Obama lives under more dangerous circumstances than his political rivals because of his race. He received secret service protection earlier than most presidential candidates, and his current staff is equal to a sitting president. John McCain does not have secret service yet. Clinton does, because she is a first lady. "Barack scares those of us who think of the possibility of an assassination in a different way," Gerald Posner, author of books on the assassinations of John Kennedy and King said. "He represents so much hope and change. That is exactly what was taken away from us in the 1960s."

Barack Obama insists he is safe and tells his supporters to stop worrying. What do you think?

  • I think because this subject keeps being brought up that eventually the wrong people will see it. We need to give him all of the protection this country can provide to avoid that circumstance.

  • I think it is wise. There are crazy people in this world that may not think Obama is the right choice. Better safe than sorry, right? The Secret Service are trained very well, it makes total sense.

  • They need to rethink the strategy that was at work in Dallas when they stopped searching the people that were going into the Obama rally. That isn't protecting him very well.
