(AIWS) is an unusual neurological disorder that causes the person with the condition to sometimes perceive certain things as much smaller than they are.

It's also known as Lilliputian syndrome or micropsia. Not surprisingly, it can be caused by certain psychoactive drugs. It can also affect the other senses like hearing and touch.

Whoa. Check out this article about one man with AWIS. Reminds me of that scene in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas where they get hopped up on ether and make their way into the casino. Classic.

I think I experienced something like this as a kid. I'd lie in bed at night and watch my closet doors quadruple in size, my dresser bloat like through a fish-eye lens, and the ceiling would appear to be a thousand feet high. Maybe I was just an imaginative kid, or there was some mystery ingredient in my grilled cheese.
