After a barrage of Grad rockets fired from Gaza on Thursday struck the Israeli border town of Ashkelon, Israel has activated a rocket warning system, and is warning that they will use their full force (read: ground military operations in Gaza) if needed to stop the rocket attacks.
Israel's continued aerial and ground attacks on Gaza killed seventeen people yesterday as tensions on the West Bank continue to escalate.
A refugee camp also came under fire after it was stormed by the Israeli army in a 'search and arrest' raid, which saw two Palestinian gunmen killed in the 'fire exchange.'
Hamas's Interior Minister responded to the attacks and unrest saying that:
"President Abbas should decide whether he supports this war against his people or he condemns it. The Arab and Islamic worlds should also move to prevent the Israeli aggression."

He's got a good point, but will the attacks cease in the near future?

The conflict has been ongoing for so long now, it's hard to predict when peace might come to the region, if ever. Check out this pod about the issue in Palestine, not just about territory, but who controls it.
"The film is not about taking sides - the activists we see are mostly Israelis who have gone to see for themselves what life is like for the Palestinians living sometimes only 15 minutes from their door." -
Sadly i think you are right to feel slightly pessimistic about peace in the region, there is now so much history and bitterness it seems impossible that they will forgive and move on (i wont say forget - as I dont think that it is right that they forget and how can they?) but we must remember that Israel are the occupiers not the victims.
