More than two decades after the country established a uniform drinking age of 21, a nascent movement is afoot to allow 18- to 20-year-olds to legally buy alcohol under some circumstances.

i tend to agree that limiting the age to legally consume alcohol to 21 drives it underground. i also beleive that it drastically increases the binge drinking factor. another side affect i believe is that young adults who cannot get hold of alcohol revert to drugs to get their kicks, as these tend to be easier to get hold of. it would definitely be interesting to compare drug use amongst the 18-21 age bracket before and after legislation dropping the legal consumption age to 18. i think the results could be very interesting.
