The cow is considered to be a holy animal amongst India's Hindu population. Their meat is not eaten, but their dung is collected and sold to be used as cooking fuel. This pod introduces us to the business and those who eke out a small living selling cow dung.

It would be difficult to NOT come up with sly, witty remarks about cow manure, but I'll try. I thought this pod was great in showcasing a different way of life and its relation to an animal. The pod pinpoints the location where this method of "harvesting" cow manure is taking place. This pod could have been stronger with two elements: showing the dried cow dung actually in use as cooking fuel and possibly a comparison between this type of cooking fuel and others. After all, what are the advantages and disadvantages of this cooking fuel? Still, it is a good piece in "exoticizing" cow dung.

The woman selling the dung said she was embarassed in front of outsiders. I say there is no shame in supplying a product in demand, thats good business.
