Was Moses HIGH on Mount Sinai?

A survey finds that Israelites may have eaten hallucinogenics around Mount Sinai! Two hallucinogenic plants were found in the Sinai desert that contain the same psychoactive molecules as those found in plants from which the powerful Amazonian hallucinogenic brew ayahuasca is prepared. One of these plants is thought to have magical and curative powers by local Jews.

Perhaps the sights and sounds found in the Book of Exodus when Moses acquired the 10 Commandments from Mount Sinai were merely altered preceptions from these plants... Hmm...

Although this is nowhere near proven, it could be another tally in favor of Atheists in the religous debate!

  • ahoy sleepygorilla, I just posted a link about this as well! I spotted it on the Drudge Report and couldn't resist. pretty interesting theory, eh? This really could let the wind out of the sails of fundamentalists. this is the link I found if you're interested: http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=080304120710.ad...

and 96thdayofrage, why should you care? Come on! Let's use our imaginations and say that it's true. Moses was trippin' balls on Mount Sinai and didn't hear anything from God. well, that sort of evaporates God himself, doesn't it? I mean, we're talking about the Ten Commandments, essentially the foundation for Western Law and arguably the most important happening in the Bible after the life of Jesus of Nazareth of course.
  • If this is ever proven, what a strange day it would be! :)

  • 96thedayofrage - God isn't proven. You care about him, don't you? I'm not saying this hypothesis is credible, just that if you deny it on the grounds that it is not proven, regard your own beliefs with the same eye.
