Praying Buddhists meet the In-Seine baitfish boat as it returns with its morning catch. The Buddhists buy half the haul and immediately release the fish in a ceremony that is thought to bring good luck and health.

Well done. I am glad I watched that just now - it was a nice way to start my morning. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Wow, that was amazing to watch. The irony of the capture and release, the meaning of life to different people, Lisa you did an amazing job of capturing this ritual. From the fisherman's point of view to the monk to the lay Buddhist guy, Boston. I liked the way you used the sound of the monk chanting throughout the piece. I also liked the way the piece moved from the darkness to dawn to morning. You must have had to get up real early for that one! How did you hear about this?
I wonder if the fellow, Boston, is vegan?
I also liked the shot of the pelican stealing one of the released fish before he made it back to the water. The paradox of the cycle of life has not escaped you.-

This pod is great becuase it makes me feel like I am standing on the dock releasing fish myself!
Here is Lisa's original post about the Bait Fish Buddhists... -
Inspiring.
I enjoyed Wangchen Rinpoche's laugh when he talked about why he wouldn't call ahead to let the fisherman know he was coming.
Also Boston's " makes me happy, makes them happpy.." It was so...light and clear.
Thanks Lisa. -
I bet all the bigger fish in that bay really appreciate the monks as well.

Great pod.
I dig the flow of style of this piece; it's very calm and observational.
I like how it simply tells the story of what happens every morning at the dock in a clear and fluid manner.
Nice work! -
Very nice job Lisa-- inspiration to maintain a very simple mindset.
I love love love how you included the random practitioner white guy Boston... really brought laughter to the story. Cute and passionate... and why not? I'll be releasing fish at every dock I head to in the future. -
help a stray cat if you ever get a chance

I had to comment on the pooped on attitude of the hosts after the segment...something about still scratching their heads...I kind of assumed they would remain a bit less sarcastic, especially for something that is so sacred to these people and to so many others. I make it a point to be compassionate in my actions and thoughts and it makes me smile to see others doing the same...even for the "least among us." We rescue kitties here in Pittsburgh too! Keep up the good work Robot!
