Metal smith, sculptor and jewelry designer Shira Loa gives us a glimspe of her inspiration and process.
Organically Inspired Art-to-Wear - metal jewelry and sculpture - Orelafey
"everything i make feels organically inspired... taking walks and looking at plants- the shape, the movement of stem to leaf, the sillhouettes, the patterns of growth- is my biggest inspiration... but in the end, i usually do not want to represent these things again, for those things are perfection. you can not improve on their beauty. that beauty runs too thoroughly through the plant itself while emanating in the air around it and the entire cycle of growth, the soil it grows from, the creatures it feeds. for my artwork, i usually take the feeling of admiration, the joy of that organic perfection, and then move it through me... like music... for an abstraction of that form." - shira

Just gorgeous, everything; the jewelry, the philosophy, the girl, the music. I want a musical flower ring! I love how the pacing of the piece reflects her organic concept. I would love to watch this on tv.

I loved this. The music she does is beautiful. Her work with jewelry is art. I would watch this anywhere.
-
The film work on this piece should be noted as well. The attention to detail is wonderful.

Nice, interesting piece. Well shot, the audio could be tweaked a little, it dropped in a few places then got loud again. Other than that good job.

I loved this piece! Her artwork is amazing, the jewelry is truly unique, and her singing was beautiful. I love the melding of metal with nature and organic things.

I look for videos that have a art look to them not just the same old interview that everyone teaches ... good work

Good job Daflew. You are getting really good at story-telling. I like the blend of audio and visual. The pace is nice too. Shira rocks...

elegant, botanical, alchemical ... this is an earnest glimpse into the world of the inimitable shira loa.
