It's sad, but dogs with dark coats face longer stays at animal shelters. Called "black dog syndrome," shelter workers chalk to it up to a number of factors including poorly lit photos on shelter websites and spill-over from the superstition of black cats. So if you're thinking about adopting, please remember- the darker the doggy, the sweeter the pooch.

This is terrible. My pup is a rescue pooch, and my next one will be black. ;)

My puppy's fur is brindle, but her fur color is mainly black. And the previous dog in the family was half doberman and half dane, she was pure jet black. She was a sweet 165lbs dog that loved to go backpacking.
