In a continuation of mounting tensions between Colombia, Venezuela and Ecuador, thousands of Venezuelan troops advanced towards the Colombian border following the cross-border raid into Ecuadorian territory to kill a member of the FARC.

Ecuador has also mobilised troops after the cross-border raid on Saturday with the Venezuelan Defence Minister Gustavo Rangel after his country 'was bombed' that troops were 'ready to defend the sacred sovereignty of the homeland.'

  • This situation has been building over the past week. While troops on both sides have mobilized, it's unclear whether fighting will actually break out, or if it will be a cold stand off. The diplomatic tensions have also increased, and Colombia's president wants Chavez to be tried in International Criminal Court for an unwarranted invasion. More on the story here.

  • Ronald Reagan made sure that communism would not spread in Central and South America, for good reason. Communist regimes are nothing more than millitary dictatorships. Colombia is well within its rights to go after FARC. Ecuador and Venezuala are supporting the FARC terrorists. Hugo Chavez was a close personal friend of the FARC leader that was killed by the Colombians. The fighting has already been going on for some time now between FARC and the Colombian Government. Venezuela and Ecuador are now using their millitary in support of FARC and against Colombia.
