I have had nightmares about this happening ever since I read "The Assault on Reason". I really think (or hope) that if they tried to pull this off, everyone, regardless of political party, would rebel. This country has never had a dictatorship and now is certainly not the time to start one!
I have the same worries about Obama being a target like JFK, Martin Luther King and Robert Kennedy. He has their chrisma and I think that has a lot of people worried. It seems like the best are always taken way too soon.

I think this is a pretty clear idea of what could happend. I mean just a few months ago Carl Rove himself said that by Nov 2008 no one would be talking about the war in Iraq.... pretty weird thing to say during a presidential election.

Time to be afraid according to the Bush regime... it's an election year afterall! Of course, if the American people had shown some backbone in years past when the judicial coup that put them there took place, we might not be needing to ask these questions. I still can't believe that after eight long years these criminals are still in OUR White House and Congress is still appeasing them, and that includes our presidential "candidates" who think campaigning and raising millions of dollars to sling mud at each other is more important than doing their jobs.

Listen, as much as I dont want it to happen, I think test runs of this senerio are already being tested. I have a recent memory of seeing all these t shirts and posters counting down to how many days the US has left to put up with Bush. The memory gives me a sick feeling because then I think back to how the Bush administration weasled their way into power in the first place. If getting him into power had little to do with a democratic voting system then I have little faith in that same system getting rid of him. Not in this day and age. If the people pulling the strings can still use him then Bush isn't going anywhere.

Keep in mind that during the first few months of the Iraq war Bush's approval rating shot up to 95%. I am encouraged, though by the overwhelming response this thread received during the past 24 hours. I hope, though, that we are not preaching to the choir so to speak. It would be good to spread the word to your less political friends. I urge you to be cautious and rational when you discuss these things.
