Uribe, Correa and Chavez shake hands.

Image...
The crisis over Colombia's cross-border raid into Ecuador is over after the presidents of the two countries shook hands at a regional summit.

Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez, who had backed Ecuador's Rafael Correa in condemning Colombia's actions, also embraced Colombia's Alvaro Uribe.

Here's to hoping that the violence subsides, only earlier today fresh accusations were made of Ecuador having ties with FARC rebels.

This is good news and shows that at least some leaders are still committed to peace.
what is truly funny to me is that MANY around here consider most, if not all, of these men to be "raving lunatics" or "bafoons" as one guy so eloquently put it. So here you have a handful of raving lunatic bafoons finding diplomatic ways to reach the peace...what does that say about our leadership...lol...sorry...just an observation.

History in the making when you put a bunch of roosters in one room without resulting in problems. Powerful individuals that ended in peace for the time being. Chavez was involved in the unification of nations. First time in history that nations "grupo del rio" go to sit in one room without any fights. It was nice to see it live in Spanish.

Here is a great pod that was just posted yesterday that shows how the many people of Colombia feel about Uribe...a man America has supported with arms and money for the "war on drugs"...It is truly amazing to have an opportunity to see this side of the story...
