Ever wanted to know who's wild enough to run a sex club? What if it were run by a family?

  • Hey, a family that lives together gives pleasure together. You know at least they are supportive and just because you work behind the desk of a strip club it doesn't make you a stripper.

  • This gives an interesting perspective into an establishment in the sex field.

  • I think the title "Family Friendly" gives the wrong impression, it would have been better titled something along the lines of "Family Owned and Operated Sex Club" or "A Family Business".

  • this is kind of nuts but in san francisco anything is possible, i agree though family friendly sex club gives the place a little incestual connotation...very interesting overall

  • Yeah, I think the title was a little misleading. I was expecting to see a kid in diapers playing in a child care area while his parents got frisky with another couple.

  • I'm glad someone has finally created a sex club I can bring my children to!

  • The title of the piece is either 1) misleading or 2) pun-intended. I think that it is the latter. The name of the club - Power Exchange - is also a play on the owner's last name (Powers).

As a subject, the pod is very interesting. It got all the right interviews and it shows the actual space. The idea behind the club itself is very controversial and so would benefit from greater public discourse. This pod got me questioning, "Is the creation of such sexual spaces beneficial and/or detrimental to society?"

  • i loved when this guy was running for SF mayor last year. this is so great to see this exposed. this is definitely something that you would not normally know about being in San Francisco. I really liked how the family explained their connections and inclinations to the whole thing. They all seem like really nice people!

  • We need one of these in NYC. I especially appreciate the no alcohol and no drugs rule; very nice.

  • This is a very interesting family. I wish it had comments from people from the community and actually family members who don't work there. That would of made it even more interesting. But good work.

  • Very cool....

Most families don't understand this way of life...but we do. We're Mother and Son, and Opal was a stripper for over 20 years....

    This is great....

  • Nice job. Here's our take on the same place!
  • First of all, paraphilias are not "sex." Psychiatry considers paraphilias a mental disorder of the psycho-sexual type. Psycho sexual disorders, including rape, pedophilia, fisting, are not benign -- even if consensual.

Secondly, I suppose one can praise the family of kink as one praises the families of Mormon communes. If you don't respect humans for their intrinsic worth, you can always fetishize them. Make them into "objects of gratification." That is, after all, the essential meaning of fetishism.

Thirdly, we appreciate Current for using this forum to show how sexual repression and religious fundamentalism manifest themselves aberrantly. If family deviance is valuable, then why not religious deviance? Holocaust ovens? Gitmo?

Fourthly and finally, human sexuality serves one and only one purpose: reproductive success and perpetuation of the species. Fortunately, kink -- unlike homophilia -- has not been selected for by natural selection. We can hope that the failure to reproduce will expedite the extinction of kink, before psychiatry changes its mind, embraces pain for sexual gratification, displacement of human intimacy by "objectification," and the cruelty it creates.

Now, if we can only remove religious dogmatisms that lead to such psychosexual displacements, we might enhance the human condition by breeding empathy, compassion, respect, and dignity of the human spirit, rather than the denigration, humiliation, and torture of the human flesh.
  • weird...
