In what way is icanhazcheezburger powerful? I suppose it commands a great deal of respect and power in the world of cute kittens and so on. I can hardly see it breaking a big news story,

Power through influence and it's definitely shaped the web and internet culture. Facebook's never really broken a big story but it's still one of the most powerful sites out there at the moment.
