Doctor Suicide to run for Congress

79-year-old Jack Kevorkian spent 8 years in prison for second degree murder in the 1998 assisted suicide of Thomas Youk. But now he's running for office, calling for "honesty and sincerity instead of corrupt government in Washington."

Kevorkian will need to gather 3,000 signatures in order for his name to be on the ballot, and he's running in a district where the Republican incumbent only won his last election with 51.5% of the vote. Does he stand a chance?

  • Hey, I'd vote for him. Anyone man enough to end the suffering of a deathly ill person is man enough to be in the "office". Oh, and he slays me too!!!!

  • Come on. If you were terminaly ill wouldn't you want someone to ease the pain. And, he is to die for, litterally.

  • no he's almost a martyr, he did something commendable by helping a person with the knowledge that he would be put in jail for it. what he did was not wrong. don't pass judgement before you even know what you're talking about. I learned about this in a psych class long ago, when something bad happens to a person, the public tends to assume they deserve it for some reason-the just world theory. adversely, when something bad happens to you, you tend to find reasons for why you didn't deserve it. let's try and practice our higher order of thinking skills people. the person he helped would have died a slow, agonizing, expensive and embarassing death. he's a fucking saint.

  • uh, did ya not read both of my comments? I said if I were sick I would want someone to ease my pain. I do think he is a saint. very few people couldn't do what he did. I did "use my thinking skills."

  • I didn't learn this in class. I learned it in real life. The guy is nuts. I believe he just really likes death. I'll be damned if I would want his goulish face hanging over me as I die. He used his assisted suicide to gain fame and spent jail time for it. He derserved it..
