Looks like Mrs. Pelosi knows something we don't...or does she? Here she is putting in her two cents in on the democratic dream ticket of either:

Clinton/Obama

OR

Obama/Clinton

What do you guys think? All this speculation have you thinking it will never happen or do you think they have something up their sleeve no matter who gets the nomination!?

Well, they said at one of the debates that they would work together regardless of who gets the nomination but I don't think it will happen. The attacks have gotten a little too personal for that anymore. I certainly can't see them as running mates.

    She's right - no chance.
Hillary crossed the line (perhaps her imagined threshold?) when she suggested the Republican was more qualified than her fellow Democrat (more qualified to run smear campaigns?) And now she won't reject Ferraro's racist comment. So Hillary will not be the Democratic nominee and can;t pick Obama.

And Obama will simply do much better without all the Clinton baggage when he runs against McCain. There are several very good governors out there he could pick who would help the ticket. NM Gov. Richardson is the first one that comes to mind.

    Why would Obama choose her?

Why wouldn't he? And if it was her, why would she choose him?

He wouldn't choose her because she is overbearing and old unethical politics. She should choose him so she would have a winner on the ticket. He would refuse.

    Woody:

Why wouldn't an idealistic, SERIOUS, presidential contender like Barack Obama pick Hillary as a running mate???

Oh, let me count the ways....

If i weren't at work right now, I'd seroiusly go off on a wild, vitriolic, completely and unnecessarily over-the-top rant as to how horrible an idea this is.

You are living in a media-fueled dreamworld, my friend.

The distinguished senator from illinois would NEVER allow the trainwerck that is the Clinton camp to tarnish his presidential bid or his good name.

I'm sorry to say this, but Pelosi totally dropped the ball.

What's worse, it's simply disgusting to see our Party divided by this maddness.

C'mon people can't we work together? Fnd some sort of common ground?

    derk
  •

Maybe we could if I didn't feel certain Clinton was going to pull a Joe Liberman and run as an independent when Obama gets the nomination. That would divide the vote and put Insane McCain in the White House. Leaving Clinton to run again 2012. No, I don't expect any common ground working together.

Having Hillary as Obama's VP would hurt his chances against McCain. (as Republicans passionately hate her)

Hillary wants Obama as her VP (or hopes Obama suppporters will believe that she would pick him) in order to scoop up his voter base. (hense why she first mentioned a Hillary-Obama ticket during a rally in Mississippi)

Obama has made it quite clear he has no interest in running with Clinton.

    end.

smorrisey, "GObama and Edwards ticket, tho would be unstoppable." RIGHT ON!

    Marilynn_Murray
  •

That would be very good indeed.

Edwards was my first choice. Obama / Edwards, besides being a kickass combo, would also do a lot to heal the Dem/Rep split, as Republicans seem to really like Edwards.

MM, I am somewhat tempted to.... Current-link you [whatever the hell that means] as we seem to have sensible bits in common.

Deadly, Edwards was my first choice too. I was so angry when he quit. Then I realized he did it so He and Obama wouldn't split the vote allowing Clinton to win. Republicans like both Obama and Edwards. The smart ones are sick of the mess too. They hate Hillary, and I'm beginning to hate her myself.

I connected to you. All you have to do is click on someone's name and it will take you to their page.

Does the presidency position really matter? All it really does, it seems to me, is give us all a sense of national security and image. To me, it doesn't seem to matter to many people, just spectacle now.

jdchristianson, Look at the mess we are in and think about that a little. YES, IT DOES MATTER VERY MUCH.

    jdchristianson:

The President of the US is the single most politically powerful individual on the planet. Yes, it matters rather a lot.

The reason it appears to you to be 'just spectacle now' is that the Bush administration is doing its absolute most to strip powers away from you and harvest for themselves. Meanwhile your Congress has done *nothing* to stop them.

The US Administration is hated by the rest of the world, because of the colossal abuses of executive power carried out by the President. The reason this elective process is so heated is that the next President has to carry the burden of turning around what is widely recognised as the darkest period with the worst President in US political history.

Hilary probably realizes now that she was a fool for ever suggesting such nonsense. She probably thought there would be some kind of weak response from Barack...helloooo...surprise...surprise...she's been kicking herself in the yass ever since...I agree, that Barack would never allow Hillary as VP, though he has ultimate respect for her... too much baggage there. She needs to bow out gracefully and throw her support and supporters behind Obama to unite the party...and let us all follow the yellow brick road to the big house...

My first choice on the Obama ticket was Edwards, but Richardson is also very good, as is Kucinich...it will be interesting to see...

You can bet your lady lumps there will be some bumps along the way...once the rhetorical wizzards crank up the spin machine...

There is not a chance in Hell Clinton will back down now. She will have to be beaten, and soundly. If she was going to back out it would have been pre-Iowa, to give Obama a clear range to go for the freshly-ordained McCain.

Now that Limbaugh republicans are actively supporting Clinton, this race has a while to go yet.

    painful as that may be.

wow...O clinton..it would have been nice to see a union of those two...well i guess it isnt happening. I lost some respect for her for backing mcain rather than her own running mate. sucks
