  • This will forever and always be my favorite REM song!

  • I saw REM saturday night at langerado in the everglades, I have to say, I wasn't really into them to begin with, but I was willing to give them a chance, and boy, did they suck bad. I mean really bad. REALLY REALLY BAAAD. their lead singer is pretty fond of himself too, I thought at first he was kidding with the stuff he was saying (aside from the lame bono-style countdown to their crappy opening song), but he was totally serious! "Children of Langerado, I love you all. (in a melodramatic tone) turn to the person next to you and kiss them because I can't. I love you." you're not that great of an artist there buddy-most were walkiing away when you came on. the rest of the festival was amazing though.

  • REM is so... anti-climatic.

  • I disagree. The single, "Supernatural Superserious" is great. A nod to early REM with the polish of the latter.
I'm looking forward to the album.

  • frankly it's not REM what interests me about this story. Its the fact that a major artist is debuting their album not just online, and not just on facebook, but via a 3rd party application on facebook..

You better believe they put a man on the moon, son....

  • What's your take on it, Joe? I mean, what don't we know?

  • Personally, I quite like REM - mostly their old stuff. Some of my favorite tunes. They're only "anti-climactic" if you're expecting something other than REM. ttttpppt.

  • REM = bad music. I must say, when I lend an ear or two, I generally expect to not hear "bad music". If only this were a perfect world...

  • Everybody has their opinions. :)

  • one more step towards bypassing the Clear Channel etc. radio monopoly - and I'm all for it. The only new music on mainstream radio these days is formula hip-hop/pop aimed at 12-yr-olds. If you're an artist that appeals to an older demographic (like REM), it only makes sense to head straight to where your listeners are most likely to be... the internet.

  • I think you know as much as if not more than me. Just an interesting data point in the trend towards new models of music distribution. Lost of rumors that FB is eyeing an aggressive push into music to take on iTunes MySpace, and Last FM.

This might be the opening salvo.

  • Ah. Got'cha. Another slice of the pie, so to speak.
