"You Are Campaigning As If Barack Obama Were The Democrat And You Were The Republican"

Last night, as promised, Keith Olbermann attacked Senator Hillary Clinton in a ten-minute "Special Comment," saying that he was not endorsing Barack Obama but that "events insist" that he speak and stand against her "tepid response" to the controversial remarks of Geraldine Ferraro wherein she said that Obama wouldn't have been as successful if he were not black. Last night Olbermann decried the statements as "clearly racist"; tonight, he followed up with a doozy in which he accused her of "campaigning as if Barack Obama were the Democrat and you were the Republican." In so doing, said Olbermann — in letting the opportunity to forcefully oppose Ferraro's comments pass her by — Olbermann said that Clinton had "missed a critical opportunity to do what was right."

  • "Do you not see, Senator?" Olbermann asked. "Senator Clinton, this is not a campaign strategy. This is a suicide pact."

Wow! You can almost see the flashbulbs going off in the arena as Olbermann's uppercut send Hillary Clinton flying over the top ropes to land in a heap on the hapless spectators in the front row.

    But he goes on...

"Grab the reins back from whoever has led you to this precipice before it is too late," said Olbermann. "Voluntarily or inadvertently, you are still awash in this filth...your only reaction has been to disagree and call it 'regrettable.' Unless senator you say something definitive, the former congresswoman is speaking with your approval."

    8...9....10! You're out!

Holy crap cakes. Still awash in filth? Grab the reins back from whoever led you to precipice?

Hillary Clinton has just be reframed from powerful, decisive world leader to bumbling Bush clone just repeating what her Keystone Cop-esque politcally tone deaf handlers tell her to say.

  • Because NBC/MSNBC/NBC made a business decision to increase their dismal ratings by appealing to the youth vote, as reported a few weeks ago in the NY Times business section. Ever since the executive decision was made they have pandered to Obama nation. This is unpatriotic and scary -a network attempting to take the vote away from the American people by slanting all news coverage. This has been verified by many news watchdog agencies. Let's take back the press. Boycott their sponsors.

Do not let them take away your choice- Get the facts from primary sources. This is not American Idol-It's your future! Vote smart.

  • Slanted coverage?

    Media bias?

So when Hillary made that speech MOCKING Obama (and all his supporters) by portraying them as ignorant and foolish for having a positive message --- that was really (secretly) the evil media making her look bad?

When Hillary engages in proxy mudslinging through people like Geraldine Ferraro who make the outrageous claim that Obama is, in fact, really just a know-nothing idiot and has only gotten this far in a Presidential race because he's black -- that is once again (secretly) the media making Hillary's campaign look bad?

When Hillary goes around claiming that both her and McCain(!) are perfectly qualified to be President and then dismisses Obama (and all his supporters) as nothing but a well-intentioned idiot --- that is really (secretly) the media slanting the coverage to make Hillary look bad?

Hillary looks like a divisive bitch because she is one, not because the media is splicing footage and taking all her quotes out of context.

  • Veritas: If what Olbermann says is true how can you call it "unpatriotic"? An unpatriotic campaign is what he's speaking out against. Slanting the news coverage is what is done when you lie. Show me where Olbermann lied.

  • This is the problem . . . The lying, the spins, the swift boating for personal gain.

For example, if the people currently running this country lie (900+ times actually) to talk us into supporting a war that should never have been - they're not held accountable. It's just begrugingly accepted and we move along. If anyone speaks out against lying and dirty politics, they're labeled "unpatriotic" as an attempt to take the focus off the lie and shut them up. It's the epitome of hypocricy, when the fact is that those who speak out against corruption and the cause of division in this country are actually the true patriots.

  • I am so proud of Keith Olbermann. He was as nice as possible about a really ugly business. He pointed all the nasty racist things they have said and asked that it be stopped. He was as usual classy and right on target.
  • What dramatics.

  • So Jan, You think what Clinton is doing is okay?
  • Veritas: The media gets away with this everytime. And since there is so much "hatred" for Hillary Clinton fomented as well on the Internet, that only helps with the perception. You would think people would have been able to see this more clearly after 2000. Apparenlty however, people learn nothing and keep putting their trust in the same corporate slime machine they say they deplore. I am not supporting either Obama or Clinton, but I do see the hatred spewed for her and believe the set up is being made complete. And you are right, it is a form of disenfranchisement. And yes, it is sickeining that the media can have so much sway in picking our candidates. To me Keith Olberman is an overdramatic hypocrite. If he cares so much for blacks himself, why has he not used his status in the media to even ONCE speak out against the genocide in Darfur? These political theatrics do absolutely nothing to further the debate. Yet, the people eat it up with their popcorn.

  • So Jan, do you think what Clinton is doing is okay?
    Chique
  • You don't like anyone, so it's no big deal. Olbermann doesn't really give a #hit that you don't approve of him.
  • And I don't care that he doesn't care. He gets his payroll checks from the same people who trashed Al Gore and helped decide an election that would have changed the course of this country. He is one of them to me. I like John Edwards and look at wha that same media did to him. So nice you can forgive so quickly when they are trashing someone you hate.

  • I think BOTH SIDES in this have played dirty, and I think BOTH SIDES need to reaccess their tactics. Is that good enough? Or did you want me to say something you could use to call me a racist too?
    JanforGore
  • Oh the places you go . . .

  • We have to use what we have. I guess we could pout up and refuse to try to fix the things that are wrong. I'm not going to do that. One of the reasons things in the media are so bad is because BILL CLINTON finished off the fairness in broadcasting. I hate him for that and his Republican wife won't be fixing it. She is too old and too corrupt. Obama is not the fix all but he is a damned sight better than Clinton and McCain. No, both sides are not playing dirty. Obama has just refuted the crap Clinton has thrown.
  • I answered your question. So, why ISN'T Olberman speaking out against the genocide in Darfur? He certainly has the platform to do much to bring attention to it.
    JanforGore
  • You think it might be because that wasn't the topic last night?

  • Well, I was pissed that he didn't even mention the environment. He had ten minutes.
  • Barack Obama has a great political operative who met him in the early 90's and spent much time making him "authentic" In Massachusetts we had the same candidate only different name. Deval Patrick was also a confection of the Svengali David Axelrod. Same words, change, hope, community organizer, uniter-great story-AA from south side of Chicago (unlike Obama he was really poor- Obama went to a really fancy prep school in Hawaii and then Ivy schools) was given scholarship to go to Milton Acadmey then Harvard and Harvard Law School etc. etc. We were pumped- he won by 66%. The real story is -can a campaign based merely on words and aspirations endure. Well-unfortunately the voters of Masschusetts have learned that it can't-Since Patrick took office over a year ago he has made one rookie mistake after another-He ran as an outsider and upon taking office immediately pissed off the entire legislature -nothing has been accomplished- none of his promises have been met and the state has suffered. Would be great to be so optimistic- wishful thinking about some magic wand to make CHANGE happen. Obama and his supporters say that he is THE ONE and HIS TIME IS NOW- Well- this scares me since he has only been in Europe for a few hours in life and never in Latin America- Experience matters- He was a part time state senator and a part time lecturer (even though he calls himself a professor) when Hillary Clinton, Max Cleland, Chris Dodd, Joe Biden, John Edwards, John Kerry et al had to make that very tough Iraq vote. Hillary Clinton did her due diligence- The NIE was already a week old so she went to those who wrote it to get information- she talked to British intelligence but most importantly she was told by Colin Powell-the only sanity in the Bush administration- He assured her along with others that they had no intention of going into Iraq. The press has duped us again- this was a vote for weapons inspectors- Read Clinton's floor speech before you condemn her for that one vote. She couldn't find Chelsea for several hours on 9/11 -Hillary Clinton was truly the 9/11 Senator who was down in the trenches with the first responders- she is their hero- Hillary was the one who disputed the claims made by the EPA that the air was perfectly fine and that those who risked their lives to save others were in peril- She got them the help they needed- So much misinformation has been spread -especially to the young voters-via the msm that we may have a repeat of 2000 and 2004- Obama may use Malcolm X code words in the south but they certainly fit the press in this election -Yes we have been hoodwinked and bamboozled. Hopefully it's not too late. Think and investigate before you risk our future- Remember -this is not American Idol- we can not text in our vote. it's a scary time and the next President needs gravitas big time- Learn the facts- Factcheck.org is a good source since it's non partisan- Please -we are on the edge.
