Here's what some folks in a Montreal cafe have to say about the US primaries.

they are just as uninformed as the average American...

The two ladies comment on Obama's sweeping generalizations and lack of concrete plans; but he has not exhibited bad judgement. Hilary supported the war in Iraq, and more recently, did not vote to stop retroactive immunity to the telecomms back in February.

As a Canadian that is now living in the US, i have to say that while most people in Canada tend to lean to the left, seem to have a better idea about politics than the general public in the US. For some reason they seem less concerned about the latest TV show and more concerned with things that will affect them. While this is of course not true across the board, it is a observation that I have made. Perhaps the Great White north is due more credit than the US gives them.
It's not just all hockey and beer . . . -
I post on a Canadian site where folks show up from the world over. There's rarely a flare-up over who's on which side of an arguement about US policies and politics.
I need that site to get an outside perspective and keep my sanity without being attacked for my beliefs.
Smarter? I'd say, more sane. -
why not let internationals vote. trust me, they have a better grasp on whats going on than stupid americans do. they have no specific biases, they are not apart of a subsect of the population, they are voting on who will improve the world.
americans are just simply polar retards when it comes to the world and are more worried about what the next man will think of their voting choices, than actually improving his/her life! thats retarded!-

Hell no this is not true as far as I am conserned. If Canadians knew as much as I do about their own politcs Harper would not be PM there now. Too bad I was living in BC in 2000 when Bushwacker and Chainmaster got in here. The bankers and chicken hawk war profiteers control the US and the 51st state of Canada. Some of us in both places are awake...others are slaves of mammon and making weapons to sell all sides and political factions, they are masochistic pigs who want WWIII and the final judgement day of exticntion... they cannot see the blood of innocent women and children dripping off of wacky Bush's smacking lips on the television every day.

I think its interesting that we are supposed to get the impression that Canadians know more about US elections than we do from 3 PEOPLE talking in a cafe in Montreal, and one of them was an American! And one of them says he knows so much about US politics because he has CNN on all the time. What a load of shit.
And I am sick of people saying that they support Hillary because she speaks about policy all the time. Its called the internet, use it. Then you can go to the candidates' websites and see what they stand for. Why dont they just say that they want a bulldog in the oval office? Really the major difference between the democrat candidates is their style of speaking and attitude.
How does this reflect what Canadians think? from 2 Canadians? -
hey Braaain, good point
next time someone tries to make a sweeping statement of how canadians think and feel a bout an election, how about we get more than 2 peoples viewpoints.
fail. -
Right on Braaain! I'm tired of people generalizing all Americans as idiots who pay more attention to american idol and britney spears' antics than to what's going on in the world. Not_Doody said that Canada is "not just all hockey and beer" so then why not give us americans more credit as well. There are ignorant people in every country, and i think a few of the Canadians here trying to lump all Americans into one category proves that.

I think there should have been more interviews. It seems to be entirely based off of 3 people that Canadians seem more politically aware in U.S. politics than Americans, and those 3 people all just so happen to be in the same diner. You have 2 minutes already, plenty of space to expand. Ask people on the streets. At the bus stop. On the park bench. Let the audience get a feel for the overall competence of the Canadian public. Until you do that, you can never really answer the question your title poses. Despite the criticism, it's a good premise, I have to admit.

Interesting debate. Lots of strong opinions.
Adumbration, I'm not trying to answer the title. That's pretty impossible. It's there to catch your attn., which I see it did ;) Yes, I'm sharing the perspectives of three Canadians in Montreal in one cafe. That's the idea. -
OK, that's cool. Just didn't know your objective. Upon second view, I guess it gives some insight into the question, as opposed to answering it. Opens the floodgates of debate. Wow, that totally rhymed.
