In his mid eighties, Johann Eyfells creates these mind blowing pieces and is currently working on some of his larger and heavier pieces yet.
Born in 1927, Johann Eyfells lived his early years in his native Iceland. He now lives in the hill country of Texas, creating monumental pieces of metal against a backdrop of rolling fields and wide expensive skies. Eyfells is credited with inventing the word 'Receptualism' when discussing his work. Eyfells' work deals with the process of materials. Minimal in nature, his art is non-objective and often conceptual in approach. His materials vary between metal, wood, paper, plastic and cloth. Eyfells' objective is to document the interaction between time, space and gravity. Many of his sculptures appear to be lava or geological formations. In Central Florida, where he taught art at university, he is known as the Grandfather of sculpture.

The art is definitely unique and beautiful. It is interesting that he ended up with such art in the Hill Country of Texas. Thanks for sharing this with us, Hayden.
