Produced by Reshma Gajjar and Krishnan Unnikrishnan

With no apparent resources, Aqua Yost, an everyday person like you and I, has found a way to make an extraordinary difference. After becoming aware of the urgency of the situation in Africa, Aqua Yost created a group of paintings to raise at least one million dollars for children's health and AIDS relief.

The White Ella Project is a series of 11 paintings inspired by the beauty of Africa and its people.

  • Dear Resh

You shared something so amazing with me. I feel honored. I think it woudl be a great idea for Aqua to fundraise - I know a lot of organizations that would love to help, although they may be Muslim based if that is not a problem. Maybe we can put our heads together and do a fundraiser/ art demo show. Let me know, I 'd love to get involved and help.

  • Wow! This is motivating...we can put our energy into being a part of the positive instead of ignoring the problem. Thanks

  • As an African American woman, I was really moved and to be completely honest I felt guilty that this woman went to Africa and left inspired to DO SOMETHING. It's such a simple concept but it really takes courage to make yourself accountable for your fellow man. Well done Aqua! You've put a mirror up the faces of all who watch this insightful doc. Thank you.

  • they say one person can't make a difference, but really Aqua Yost proves that theory wrong, because one person can make a world of differences. Amazing documentary.

  • We truely need more people like Aqua in the world. Someone who's so selfless and absolutely motivated to make a change. That's something to be admired and respected. Well done. I'm an art model as well and pretty well connected with some artists and models. Let me know if I can be of some help to the project.

I would love to help in any way I can.. This type of action is what I am currently trying to inspire with my film "I AM BECAUSE WE ARE" On my website I want to create profiles of people living up to this African proverb in ways that we would not normally think of, would you all be interested?

  • This is one of the most selfless and important projects I have seen in quite a long time. I think some criticisms that projects such as these "spoon feed" African nations is misguided. To fund any sort of humanitarian aid, whether it be "spoon feeding" or a regional economic development project or whatever, some serious resources will be needed, which I believe is exactly what Aqua intends to help provide. So how can one criticize a project that will provide these resources? Don't hate people, participate. Keep up the good work Aqua.

  • This is an amazingly inspiring attempt to make a difference on this planet. When I saw this, it made me feel that I am not alone in wanting to do something big in this troubled world. Aqua really put herself out there and I know she will succeed. There is tremendous potential for things to happen when people work toward the truth to the point of vulnerability. Everything happens for a reason and it will all work out. Thank you Aqua, for doing something instead of just thinking about doing something. Thank you Reshma and Krishnan, for documenting her mission so the rest of the world can see for themselves. Through communication Aqua will get the exposure she needs. We need more people like this more than ever- most of us just take basic needs for granted while staying in total denial and don't take the time out to just be grateful, let alone make positive changes. Aqua is a true role-model.

  • Resh,
Thanx for sharing such a beautiful, creative and inspiring story. If everyone could find just an ounce of grace and love in their hearts, as Aqua has, and do something outside the norm to impact others, we could be telling a different story about the world tomorrow. Congrats for completing this documentary and I look forward to hearing more about Aqua and the project. Can you post info about her exhibition(s) when you have the details? Her artwork seems to exude so much passion and emotion, even thru the net!

  • Aqua!
You are so precious - and I mean that not in the "you are so cute and impish!" sort of way (although, that too) but you are just such a treasure of a wonderful soul and all that love that abounds in you is so satisfying to behold!!!
It's such a good feeling to catch the twinkle of someone else's inspiration, in such love. The impact of what you're doing goes way beyond your finite endeavor- it's that chain reaction of goodness sparking goodness that just keeps bursting over and over without ending, you know?
    Love is awesome in you!

  • everyone has a talent. if you can recognize your talent and use it to contribute to the world, then thats when you've really understood why we're here. krishnan is using his talent to showcase how others use their talent to change the world. its a multilayered message starting with leading by example.

  • I applaud the effort and hope for the best. It is truly refreshing to see such social activism as a source of, or at least inspiration for, such a creative output of work.
