Bill Maher, satirist is making a career out of bashing Christians and others with religious beliefs. Why is this phenom so predominant as I late. Are people really so incredibly threatened by Christians or, like Bill did they just see a band wagon worth milking?

  • The pendulum is swinging and Bill Maher can be insensitive sometimes.
I am a proud Agnostic and I think Bill Maher is over reacting to generations of having people like us and Atheists and Jews being prosecuted for what they believe in..
It is somewhat of a relief to be able to speak without immediate fear of being killed for once in history.

  • He does this because Muslims would not stand for it!
  • There are all types of Christians like there are all types of Jews, Muslims, Atheists and Agnostics etc.
There are good, peaceful (Christians, Jews, Muslims, Atheists and Agnostics) who walk the walk and are amazing people but there are irritating (Christians, Jews, Muslims, Atheists and Agnostics) who want all Non-(Christians, Jews, Muslims, Atheists and Agnostics) to believe as they do.
It's important that we have free speech to allow for Bill's thoughts to be heard. I don't agree with everything he says but it is refreshing to hear another point of view after being forced to hear only Christian Conservative views for so long. I have listened on the TV and radio to how I will burn in hell, growing up and that is hurtful to me. That is disrespectful of me and my family to keep hearing that over and over. We need free flow of information and then people can make up their minds. I think Bill is somewhat immature sometimes in his opinions but a lot of it is over reaction. People are getting weary of hearing one Christian Conservative point of view all the time. How many times can we listen to how we are going to burn in hell without being overly sensitive? It is very prevalent. I hope that the next generation will bring Progressive (Christians, Jews, Muslims, Atheists and Agnostics) who ALL have respect for one another and don't force only Christianity.. Then Bill will stop ranting with so much inner frustration fueling it.

  • No, it's because the world is waking up to the poisons of faith, I mean, willful ignorance.

It's not just Christians he (Bill) bashes, he is not a bigot, he bashes all theism, because seeing masses of deluded people and pointing it out is not discrimination, it's progress.

  • Bill Maher is bashing organizational, institutionalized Christianity... I doubt he even knows what real
Christianity is... but for that matter, given the deeds of those who say they do... not sure we all wouldn't kill the Christ again, given the chance... and that says more about us than it does about Christ.

  • Most of them would make fun of him on Fox News over and over again and call him an extremest liberal...I think he was probably a very cool guy and kind of a hippy.
I also think he preached what every little child already knows...before the grownups take that purity away.

  • The reason christians are being bashed is simple. When you force your belief system on people they rebel. The "good christians" took over the white house and used their religion to commit horrible crimes against humanity. Chris Hedges is a harvard divinity school grad who recently wrote the book " American Fascists The christian right and the war on America" this is an excellent read and sheds light on the ultra right agenda and methods of domination. When christians force the bible into governmental policy bad things happen. Case in point; a fetus has a right to life. the lowly female should not be permitted to to make decisions for herself. her health , wellbeing and quality of life is unimportant. The fetus has all the rights, however once this fetus is born, the rights end, no right to healthcare, no right to clean air or water, no right to a quality education, simply the RIGHT to be born and thats where it ends. The Bible is a spiritual guide not a literal document on scientific fact and gov. policy. I personally believe there is something greater than mortal existance, however the self-rightious attitude of the christian right makes me sick with their obvious hypocracy. How can a supposedly intelligent human being believe in a talking snake yet not believe that our planet is in danger of becomeing uninhabital due to mans gross negligence, greed and consume everything policies.

In that video Sam Harris preaches that religious befiefs are dangerous, exclusive and to be feared. What his fanatical, followers fail to see is that in order to sell his books (and speaking engagements), he himself is preaching his own very dangerous set of beliefs that are entirely exclusive to his believers. And he uses the very thing he preaches against, that is: 'fear' as his main tool!!! You've been duped!!!
