A new statement attributed to al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden condemns European countries for siding with the United States in Afghanistan and for allowing the publication of cartoons considered insulting to Islam's prophet, Mohammed.
"This is the greater and more serious tragedy, and the reckoning for it will be more severe," the speaker in the five-minute audio recording says.
The identity of the speaker could not be independently determined. However, a radical Islamist Web site reported earlier Wednesday that a statement from bin Laden was coming shortly.

This new statement comes from Bin Laden on the same day that marked the five year anniversary of the war in Iraq...coincidence? Maybe? Maybe not? What do you think!?

How can you be so sure it's a fake? It would be in line with things he does. He is a very dangerous, evil man and does not usually make idle threats.
-
This looks like one of Bush's ploys to make it look like he is some big Cheese. Remember this is not the first time this has happened. It takes place when Bush wants money, when he is trying to scare the public, and when he is making some sort of big deal about the civil war in Iraq. Of course never when he has what he what's its as if he makes a phone call to Bin Laden saying Hey, HOws About another Scare Video?

When's this guy gonna get a sense of humour?

Seriously, the Busheney admin. must have felt the need to counter the growing upsurge of American resentment against them for this "dumb war" as Obama called it.
Coincidental? You bet. Rove's brain on drugs.-

Yes, this may be some political ploy to make Bush's administration look like their doing something, but the last time we took a threat lightly look what happened. 9/11.

in his 5 year anniversary speech Bush again referred to Bin Laden as one of the biggest threats, so it's quite handy for this new message to pop up just now.
It doesn't seem like a coincidence to me. -
Bit wierd since the whole cartoon thing was a while ago. Still - get a sense of humour! It's a cartoon - if you don't like it then let us know instead of blowing stuff up!
-
I don't buy it. They're just trying to distract us from the fact that Bush practically legalized torture last week. Or the fact that this war is nothing more than a farce created by big-business politics.

i'm not buying it either. both the video and the fear it's spreading are ridiculous when you pan to other, lesser advertised instances going on courtesy of the bush admin. the date's also a little too coincidental, which just fuels my suspicion that it's complete b/s (and if it's not, kudos to obl for getting his spotlight back after its been stolen by the rest of american pop culture)

Whether this recording is a fake or not, the "cartoon thing" is still a very real problem for the cartoonists themselves, who are still in hiding, and who still have bounties on their heads.
Just last month, three people were arrested in Denmark, where they were plotting to kill Kurt Westergaard, one of said cartoonists. He is now living in his 5th safe house since the incident two years ago.
While things definitely look more than a bit fishy on this particular subject, I'd always think a bit before shouting "conspiracy" from the rooftops, lest I start assuming every threat from radical/ fundamentalist Islam is no threat at all. -
they need to get him, and those papers that are doing it on purpose!
its not the fundementalists that are only upset its all of us! if you dont understand, then you shouldnt comment...you minimize it as a cartoon only to make the issue seem small and ridiculous, but its much more than that really. and you unfortunately, because you dont respect those that follow the faith, will never get it.
the issue is not a cartoon...that was just the vessel..the medium. if it had been a person that dressed up, and had a funny caption next to the picture...it would have been the same thing.-

okinawanmajik - blah, blah, blah!
I serious doubt Bin Laden is even real. What proof do we have considering all the BS the FBI, the CIA and this administration has puked up since he got into office.
Remember back many years ago - a news team found and interviewed Bin Laden, but the mighty United States military and Intelligence community - with combined resources from the whole of the United Kingdom and every other allied in the World couldn't find him!?
Sure, he was made available for propaganda's sake - wasn't that just tooooooo convenient?
Come on ye brain-dead brethren! WAKE UP!-

Why haven't Imams, media pundits, editorial writers, bloggers and public officials called this bin Laden dog what we all know. That he is a delusional psychopath using religious dogma to incite ignorant masses into a an endless war & suicide. Oh my that describes Bush too. Well it takes one to know one. Both are funded by oil profits.
Seriously everyone gives this whack job too much credit for his deeds. During WW2 people were told how insane Hitler, Mussolini and Tojo were as crazy as rats in a coffee can. Why give the bearded one a free pass to speak when and where he chooses. He pulls our chain and we cower? The real problem in the Middle East are too many men and not enough jobs or hope for a stable future. Only death.

The fact remains that Bin Laden is still out there. The video is a reminder of how the US has failed in the primary objective of this ridiculous war and we still have no control over the situation. If it's a ploy to distract us by the Bush Administration - it's not a very uplifting distraction and doesn't reaffirm my faith in them whatsoever, so I don't really believe it to be a planted. On the other hand, if it's real - it seems that the common reaction is just to pass over this news like it's just other day in the life of war, and that does not reaffirm my faith in humanity or our hope for an end to all of this. Either way, this video should be taken seriously by all out of respect of such a detrimental situation. Go ahead and joke, but apparently the "jokes" are just adding fuel to the fire.
PEACE!-

Hillary I agree is Trinity, Obama is NOT Neo, could never be he is Mr. Smith all of them. Because you never know what he truly stands for. Followed a Preacher that hates America and says AIDS was created by The Goverment. He needs a striaght Jacket. See www.obamatruth.org to SEE THE TRUTH ABOUT OBAMA.
