Do you think South Park has taken it too far, is this is in the parameters of comedy, or is this a fair and somewhat accurate portrayal of the crazy media coverage?

satire. plain and simple.
no one suggests that Swift "went to far" (whatever that can mean) when he suggested that people eat their children.

Well, some people do suggest that he went to far, but they miss the point of satire.

You are right on that the men from SP are pointing towards the lunacy and media that surrounds Spears.

It wouldn't surprise me if the media didn't drive her to do something like this. They are relentless. To answer your first question - I think they went too far.

As usual, South Park provides better and truer social commentary than...anyone else. I don't think it's funny, but for once I don't think it was meant to be funny. I think they were being brutally honest.

"Built up, adored...and sacrificed for Harvest."
Scathing, disturbing, tragic and funny.
Monty Python would've approved.
Watch yourself, "Hannah".
