I'd say he is real - which just makes the Bush family all the more complicit in his atrocities. Bin laden is not royalty in Saudi Arabia, but he comes from an important family - the one that built most of their infrastructure - and he is protected by them and when the Princes tell Cheney what to do, he barks like the little dog he is and licks their toes. And they have told him not to kill Osama. And so we haven't. And we will stay in Iraq for as long as they need us to. And that will be until a Sunni Strong-man takes over and starts the next Saddam style dictatorship in the country. Which will be never since Iran will support the Shiites until a Muslim Theocracy is installed. The Kurds might survive this if their Turkish kin stop fighting for their freedom, but that's unlikely and so the we are looking at endless war in al lparts of Iraq and a diplomatic nightmare that rivals...well..the middle east has always been this difficult for the occupiers. The only question is should we keep our soldiers in the middle of it, or should we retire to Kuwait and lob the occasional smart bomb at which ever side seems to be getting ahead.

i honestly hope the us stays in iraq. it will finally solidify arab/persian/kurdish/pashtun/kazak/ druze/palestinian unity! it might take aboout 10 years, but it will happen, and it will destroy the us. much like the coldwar and afghanistan destroyed the ussr. it wasnt the fact the war that killed the ussr, it was the money associated with keeping up with the changing world and the fact that you cant keep information away from your people...they can see over the wall! (not necessarily the berlin wall, but access to information became to difficult to prevent) the us will keep spending money on the war, and more money and more until inflation will get so high, and no country uses the dollar as their exchange rate and the economy is in the shitter. i honestly see this occuring by 2011. the us is finished. as a former banking analyst, i saw this a few years ago. the last year solidified my hunch and thats the main reason I decided to go to law school now. I speak a few languages so when i graduate i do not plan on living here. by then, im sure, osama will still not be found but the american boogy man will still be there. infact the new conspiracy theory then will be how bush had him and was negotiating for his capture, but the democrats came and decided to not go thru with it.

Jasime - Technically - yes - American Presidents are accountable. The Congress Can Impeach. It's in the constitution. When they get away with shit, it means Congress agrees. And congress is held accountable to the voters - again, technically. We can vote them out of office if we don't like how they have acted. It's not that simple, but its the basic idea behind representative Democracy.

Jasmine, I tend to agree with all that you say. As an American I can see that the media over here is like a form of protection like attack dogs against anyone that speaks out. They seem to be in bed with the political party. So for the people to speak out it is nearly impossible to make justice come about. Unless there was a world court the US president is untouchable as far as I can see. It is terrible alot of people here in US are suffering as a result of his rule. I am concerned what may come about as a result of all this. The US is now looking into making the carrying of small firearms illegal, I think it is only because they are afraid they could be used against them. The rich here in US have all the control the poor have nothing, power nor influence.. I have always thought this war on terror is a complete fabrication.
