A brief overview through a simple slide show of Mexico's ancient archaeological and sacred sites and rituals: Teotihuacan (City of the Gods) and the sun rise ceremony of the Sun during the Vernal Equinox, carvings of the legendary Quetzalcoatl who promises return very soon, Chichen Itza, the sacred tomb of Chac Mool, magnificent Uxmal, Oxkintok, Sayil, Dzibilchaltun, Kabah, Labna. Then, a significant cultural shift - remote churches also in ruins (and still used by the local people) in Yucatan, and onto Izamel Convento built on top of an ancient pyramid and a blending of cultures - pre columbian elements of worship can still be found, the Pope and the Goddess, moving to Day of the Dead and Night of the Dead Festival (Dia de Muertos, Noches de Muertos) and the Festival of Guadalupe celebrated in the weeks before Christmas.

This was so moving (and relaxing!)

The stunning photography has captured the mystique of Mexico & left me in awe of its culture & majesty.

Este video les voy a recomendar a mis estudiantes y a otros profesores. La fotografía captura la gloria de México por su arquitectura indígena del pasado y sus ritos religiosos que continúan hoy día.

I am always moved by the amazing images photographer Caroline Davies captures. It's as if her soul travels straight through the lens and it is captured within the images she photographs themselves. Often the places that she photographs are familiar to me, because I've been so blessed to see some of these places myself, but her pictures are so touching that the spirit of the place seems to float right out of the photograph and you see them in a new way. This video is deeply moving and the wonderful music combined is nothing short of spiritual.

Another world, beautifully portrayed as such and with music beyond compare that embellishes photographic work of an exemplary high order

Caroline Davies photographs are so much more than simple images. She takes us deep into the energy of sacred places. In "Mexico: Dawn, Dusk, Ritual and Afterlife" she recreates the non-ordinary reality of Meso-American spirituality. This is a mini-mystical experience that transports us out of our mundane world...even if only briefly.
