Not only will High Fructose Corn Syrup make you fat while destroying your liver, it is also really bad for the environment. The genetically modified corn used to produce HFCS requires more pesticides and chemical fertilizers than natural corn. It is also not a crop that is rotated, which severely depletes top soil quality.
Once you've decided to eliminate HFCS from your diet, label reading becomes essential. HFCS creeps into food you would not expect to see it, like ketchup and yogurt. Start writing manufacturers, such as Heinz, and tell them you no longer purchase their products because they contain high-fructose corn syrup.
Remember, the revolutionary war started with a boycott of tea.

good job uroborus! I've been looking to post like this...people wonder why I am so fanatical about not having high fructose corn syrup in my food

Thanks so much for this post. Definitely avoid it at all costs.

It is SO darn hard to eliminate HFCS entirely, but I feel it's worth the struggle. Unfortunately it means that "convenience" foods which are hardly foods at all are almost all off the table...

Thank you for posting this important information. HFCS is in so much food we consume that it boggles my mind.
I read an article where someone was challenging the members of the forum to eliminate food that contained hfcs.
I am afraid to look in my cubbard, as I most certainly have food with hfcs.
I put a link to a list of what has hfcs, it would have been much shorter to just say what doesn't have hfcs. sadly -
I just read this, oh my.....this makes so much sense, and this is another reason the food corporation conglomerates add this stuff to our food, it sells more food...
Dr. Mehmet Oz, author of You: The Owner’s Manual,says....
"The problem is that HCFS inhibits leptin secretion, so you never get the message that you’re full. And it never shuts off gherin, so, even though you have food in your stomach, you constantly get the message that you’re hungry"
I believe that.....good grief I am going to stop eating this stuff right now! wish me luck! grin... -
YES! Finally a good post about this cheap body altering syrup. But I agree with you on eliminating this stuff from my diet, I will help strengthen the positive statistics for American health.
