  • Great piece John! Definitely a huge issue these days, and it's good to see someone approach it with some sense. Hope Brooklyn is treating you well these days.

  • Great piece in discussing piracy and punk capitalism. Although I'm not certain about the origin of the word "Yankee", perhaps if you cite some references that supports Matt's statement? His argument about the progress of nations as being founded on piracy is certainly interesting and relevant (i.e. China). I enjoy the pod a lot and I think the graphics is great. It adds to the piece by being eye-catching and easy to understand. I'm a bit ambivalent about the short skits because I'm not sure they carry the same tone as your interview and/or the transition from humor to seriousness is a bit abrupt. Still, it's a terrific piece in exploring the issue and relevance of piracy in today's society. Great job!

  • I loved the concepts discussed in this pod, and feel that the information is enough of a driving force to keep me interested. I didn't find that the dramatizations added to the pod. Maybe one or two, but there was too much for my tastes. I definitely think that the information is facinating, and that this is a really cool new idea for a pod family in general. Book reviews / book explanations - I don't know if I'll ever read the book, but I now I know a little about the main points in it. Of course, most producers aren't The John Carluccio -- and probably can't make a book come to life like he can. :)

  • This is worthy of airtime, to be sure. There's a lot here of value to ponder. Those comedic moments take away from the story, though.

I guess a little. Remember Bill Nye the Science Guy?

Or better yet, The Eyes of Nye?
    CarlosIsDown
  • Of course, I remember Bill Nye's show.
I also recall a sad rip-off on CBS with some guy wearing a rat nose. The thing about Nye was that he integrated the humor effortlessly into the show and it was tailor-made for kids. It fit in with the overall flow of the show.

  • cool beaners!!
    phukna
  • What about beaners? Derogatory term to describe someone of mexican descent?

That's true about the humor in this vid. The CEO jumps out of no where, and uses chuck-nun-chucks. . . (oh, i barely got that). How can someone segway effortletly into that.

What's more, how can that possibly be un-funny. I mean come on. He jumps out of no where. And he hits them with two chucks tied together. . . . and he yells "you've got to pay more than that."

    Heh, heh, heh. . . . A for effort?

  • Part One.
Interesting subject as many people today have the sick behavior to deny doing it in attempt to scape liabilities of some form. However I think it is a little bit of an exaggeration and generalization to say that the whole America was founded on piracy principals. That is not true. There are lots of Americans that followed ethical ways to do things and they did it with class and their actions end up to be beneficial to many. By the other hand real piracy never been a wise type of human behavior towards economic principals that promotes life.

Piracy always promotes death and glorification of selfishness mischievous behavior.

    Therefore, The Pirates Dilemma:
I think his main dilemma is going to be located in his spirit and his mind with the eternal question; "If he could have done things on a better and ethical manner that favors (life) instead of (death)."

This is also an eternal question of Fantasy x Reality issue and an ethical discussion.

Let us go for the ethical issue first.

Therefore, What is the etiquette? By knowing the etiquette and ethics and by having GOD's Love in your heart, you are free to use creative content as long as you are not making a (profit) from it.

By the moment you are starting to make a profit from some else's creative content you must share the profits and sincerely attempt to create an economy around those that help you develop that creative content. That includes acknowledging the source, the initial creators.

This is, in case if you do not want to be mediocre and follow the Pirates side you just need to loop that thought.

Now if you want to be mediocre going to the Pirate side and be a Pirate yourself, you will have to respond to the Spirit of GOD just before your death. It is a shameful death, Who wants to participate or be something like that?

As an individual living in Society, You must recognize when you are crossing the limits of civil responsibility. There is no excuse for this type of behavior any more.

If you are in the position to help others economically and you do not do it and keep denying credits you are not more than a "jerk" and an abuser. Remember that in life there are limits for everything.

  • Part Two:
Therefore this goes goes back to the main question:
    - What are the motives that drives some people to steal from others?

Some of the answers can be found here:
    1. Because you are poor and hungry. (Then you have been dismissed)
    2. Because a person's lack of proper opportunity or lack of financial support. (Then you also have been dismissed)
    3. Because the other part is very rich and selfish. ( Debate)
    4. kleptomaniac behavior- That is a mental sickness. ( Arrest Debate)
    5. Because you hate or you are jealous of someone for their credits and you want to revenge on them somehow by taking control over them. That is part of another sick mental behavior. ( Arrest Debate)
    6. Criminal anti-social behavior. ( Arrest Debate)
    7. Because someone already stole from you and you have no choice but to go and steal what belongs to you back. (Here is the Debate)

As an example, I am putting advertising on the spot because I went in the past to The School of Admin, Economics and Marketing. Then latter to Communications and Journalism while I was already working in an Advertising Agency. Therefore I was trained to see things beyond the normal individual eyes. Therefore, I did end up to develop this power psychic to see so many creative content been taken without acknowledging the source of creation that it was not even funny. Therefore let us put the bunny on the spot,

    Advertising Pirating. (scenery development)

How ethical individuals operate? So let's suppose that:
    The (if) statement:
(if) Character's Work= Participation + Amount of Acceptable Creative Content.

    The Pirates way:
(Pirates never acknowledge the source) His account works like that:
(-) Work + Creative Content = Work + Profits + (hit and run), gone!

    How the ethical way works:
Character's Work + Creative Content + Profits - Pay Back Credits = Sub Total Revenue - Taxes = Total Revenue
    stopnoise
  • Part Three:
As a Fantasy Movie it is interesting to observe how the character and the dynamics of this issue plays but as a reality I think that it is not fun to be a Pirate. Example: Movie "Pirates of The Caribbean."

    Acknowledging Content Creators
    Personal Human Development Acknowledgment

The real reality of "Pirate Stealing" is that it is a selfish form of creating slavering and slaving others. By knowing what is the etiquette and rules of ethics you are not going to fall to that type of mischievous behavior because in the plane of reality it just spells remorse and regret.

Every pirate somehow will face before his death the remorse and regret of his actions in life.

The reason for his regreets goes back to where he or she attempt to destroy GOD's given economic concept of Sharing.

    Think about the consequences;

If You are a Pirate and you are profiting from creative content somehow without giving the proper credit to the source, you are then practicing criminal behavior. Besides, there is this big chance that you are going to get caught and arrested since you keep exposing yourself over and over again in the process. Pirates are not very good on economic principals. Pirating does not create a prosperous economy and therefore they are not for life but for death.
If you are a Pirate or want to be one, be aware that you have a higher potential to pass mediocracy around yourself and others because Pirates totally failed on economics.

If it has been proved that if you steal something, that shows that you do not respect your own self and for that matter, how can you ever learn to respect others?

It is a lost case for the Pirates and to everybody else and we should call for restitution of credits to content creators.

  • You lost me after, "Part One. Interesting subject...".
Why do people insist on making it a point to the lose their point in a million words?
(Actually, I read all 3 parts and still got lost.)

  • Fantastic pod, it's a very clear and balanced in my opinion. I think our generation is very open to the ideas of piracy most of us comprehend the concept of being fair to artists and writers.

go on, go forth and pirate.
