"The Great Firewall of China" has been censoring videos of the recent unrest in Tibet, but all of their efforts to keep the videos under-wraps hasn't gone un-noticed and Wikileaks have been making every effort to keep the videos alive.

They now have 120 videos on their site and have compiled them in a way that makes them easy to spread around the internet. So take a look at them and do your part.

    • I also saw Dalai Lama on the "Larry King Live" many years ago, the only thing I remembered he said on that show was "we are a different race from the Chinese". Larry King was startled by his comment, he basically asked Dalai Lama to take back what he said, but Dalai Lama pretty angrily insisted. It was unbelievable to see a monk making comment like that. Most Han Chinese in China are quite naive about the concept of race since it is not something well-defined to start with. The government there always lecture the Han Chinese that all ethnic groups in China are brothers and sisters, and the concept that "we are of Han ethnicity" is not encouraged so that the minorities like the Tibetans won't fell marginalized(I know because I used to live there). In the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, the ethnic violence did not break out until communism collapsed. Dalai Lama travels around the world, making people believe how Tibet has been wronged by China, which basically imply how evil the Chinese are. This directly fans the racial tensions in Tibet. The more he emphasize the Tibetan identity, the more intolerant the Tibetans will become of other peoples given how strong a hold he has of his people.

    • Well this video was recorded by those 3 climbers i was talking about. They also have interviews on Slovenian TV as one of them was Slovenian and he was abosultely disgusted by chinese actions. Of course without them being there noone would know. They were invited for a tea in chinese embassy at Kathmandu but of course they refused or they would be brainwashed by chinese government.

Thanks for showing everyone to what I alluded earlier. This is the kind of syndicated news reports Dalai Lama groups radio broadcasted into Tibet everyday. Though the quality is lower.

They usually begin with the false premise of Chinese soldiers killed xyz tibetians, Han or Hui chinese raped xyz Tibetians, Chinese police jailed xyz "innocent" Tibetians. Then they're accompanied by talk-back style hateful vitrolic comments by "callers". Ranging from name calling to the more violent ones that advocate going out and killing other chinese. These "calls" are a technique used to give the false impression of "popular opinion".

In Tibet, you couldn't switch on the radio without this nauseating crap.

Now lets look at this particular video. Iztok18 you posted this vid as evidence that "chinese shot death 18 kids and women who tried to flee in India."

But notice how the video never actually show any footage of "chinese" soldiers shooting anyone? Much less women and children? The "evidence" of this shooting, is in fact, some unknown person telling you "Chinese" soldiers are "shooting Tibetans." All of the information here lies in the distorted context with which the report is given.

So here you have a piece of media that doesn't actually show anything, relies on unverifiable hearsay or double hearsay testimony and been paraded around as "proof".

Propaganda masquerading as "news" reports would be more accurate.

    • My friends were there climbing mountains while chinese shot death 18 kids and women who tried to flee in India. Also propaganda in Tibet is strong by chinese of course. Their message from Tibet was: " In Tibet you can really start hating chinese."

Riiight.... and why do the "chinese" want to shoot 18 kids and women exactly? And this is suppose to have happened to in India now? Chinese governments are now sending death squads to other countries to kill women and children now? Or are u inferring that its suddenly illegal to emigrate in China?

This is just exactly the kind of bs propaganda the Dalai Lama groups broadcast on the radio in Tibet everyday. Demonizing the Chinese government, mud slinging, wedge politics, inciting violence. People like you should be ashamed to call yourselves buddhists.

Well duh, I was checking the wikileaks torrent and found these photos in the archives. I'm not a profession no-lifer who spends their day commenting on news sites thanks.

I also like how you avoided answering any of the points I made. I reasoned with logic and showed the readers why the photo is propaganda through misrepresentation.

Do you have any reason to defend these lies so forcefully? You're the one spreading propaganda here.

    • Wow can't believe this was on the wikileaks archive dump. If anyone wanted to shoot wikileaks credibility this would be it.

Just for all you uninformed readers out there, I'll clarify the incident. I was in Tibet when this happened. The riots are a direct result of incitement of hatred by the Dalai Lama groups against their fellow neighbours. They have been broadcasting messages of hate (ala fox news) against the han and hui ethnic groups in tibet for years. This is simply the result.

This dump even contains photos and videos NOT from the riots but from a mock movie made by a pro-lama group in 2003. The purpose of such movie? Propaganda material against the chinese government.

In case any of you are wondering why, in the photo, the monk is been manhandled by Indian looking police. That's because in the photo pro-tibetian protesters had been attacking ethnic han chinese and vandalising property.... in Nepal. Some of the media from this dump had been used by western media including deutsche welle, reuters, bbc and CNN to falsely implicate the Chinese police as evidence of "chinese brutality" even though it had occurred in Nepal. CNN has since then published an apology for "accidentally" putting the images in the wrong context (but only after it had been refuted and made jokes about all over the web).

Also reports of the Chinese authorities deporting foreign journalists were just blatant lies, they only stopped them entering Tibet after the riots began. Journalists and tourists who were actually in Tibet at the time have given many testimonies supporting the Chinese government's version of events of what happened (Eg: http://edition.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/asiapcf/03/20/tibet.miles.interview/index.html...). Though these were vastly under-reported compared to the vitriolic china bashing that occured.

Ironic how this sort of biased media coverage and outright lies are been used against wikileaks now.

    • That's an interesting photo, onechance - could it be that these Chinese soldiers were going to disguise themselves as Tibetan monks and then commit violent acts against people and property in order to make people believe that the violence was perpetrated by Tibetans?

    • Please, iamchinese-

Supporting an illegal invasion in Tibet in the first place is as bad as supporting the Iraq invasion of America. Both are wrong. Both should have never happened.

Tibetans are not to blame when they can't even display a picture of His Holiness the Dalai Lama or hang the Tibetan flag.

The Chinese Government is a Fascist Dictatorship gone wild.

Also, the pictures are mostly fabricated it seems. (see the picture I linked to this post)
And another thing, most all Tibetans are Buddhist, so they don't read the "Bible".

BOYCOTT CHINA UNTIL THEY DO THE RIGHT THING IN TIBET, IN THE SUDAN, IN BURMA ETC ETC ETC ETC.............

    • i am really sicking tired of hearing all these bias information. if u looking thru all the pix, u will find out there r some "peaceful protesters" burn down buildings and attacking a police car. when Twin Tower was burn down to ground, that was a terrorist's attack. now there r some ppl burning down buildings in China, they become hero. For those pix with dead bodies, they r not valid evidences. Lets suppose in America, a police c some guy trying to burn down some buildings, so the cop will try to arrest him. when the cop tries to do that, there r 10 guys jump out and try to stop the cop. and maybe one or two will have knives on them. I am sure in America, at this point, it is logical and it is alright for the cop shoot the ppl with weapons down to protect his own life. It might happen the same way in Tibet. Cops were just trying do their jobs just like hundreds of thousands of cops r doing everyday in the US. PLZ think b4 u take side on matters like this. It is complicated. All the evidences are not valid unless u know the stories behind them. what were those ppl doing when they got shot? were they holding guns taken from cops or reading their Bibles on the side walk? there was one picture shows 3 Japanese were escorted by police force. who were they threatened by? the cops? NO. those protesters r dangerous. If on their way back, they were attacked by some aggressive protesters, should the cops just hold fire, get killed and get their guns taken away by the same ppl who just killed them or should they strike them down to stop them endanger other ppl? what u will do if u were those cops?
yes, there r tanks on the street. PLZ THINK. if all the protesters don't post any threat to the police, do they really need a tank? i don't think so. and i don't ever think police will fire canons on the buildings or use machining guns to kill every person on the street. PLZ think the tank as a protection to the peace maker, not a killing machining. Beside tanks r good for push burning cars out the way.
