On December 10th 2007 sixteen-year-old Aqsa Parvez's father strangled her to death. The Pakistani community newspapers in Toronto labelled her "ziddi larki"- stubborn girl. This shocking lack of recognition of domestic violence is the inspiration for this experimental short film. Atif Siddiqi (a Pakistani male) portrays a female character that leads a seemingly ordinary life with a tragic ending. The use of a trans-gender Pakistani male in this film is symbolic of our dual nature as human beings. The gender-bending places the male under scrutiny and attempts to expose the fear of the heterosexual male; the fear of female power and deep seeded
homophobia that leads men to commit acts of violence often against the women in their lives.
The peacock is a creature in nature that is more vibrant and flamboyant than the female and as protector of paradise is said to have allowed Satan into the Garden of Eden.

Would Aqsa deserve this fate if she was mislead by the "evil of modernity"?
