A website that encourages girls as young as 9 to embrace plastic surgery and extreme dieting in the search for the perfect figure was condemned as lethal by parents’ groups and healthcare experts yesterday.
The Miss Bimbo internet game has attracted prepubescent girls who are told to buy their virtual characters breast enlargement surgery and to keep them “waif thin” with diet pills.
Healthcare professionals, a parents’ group and an organisation representing people suffering anorexia and bulimia criticised the website for sending a dangerous message to impressionable children.

Sounds like just another day in SoCal...Sad isn't it!
To quote my favorite comedian Monique (Big wonder black woman) --
"You see those skinny bitches, they say they shaking cause they are cold, No way, They ain't shaking cause they cold, they shaking cause they hungry. Grab that girl and buy her a two piece and biscuit!"
True Dat MO! True Dat! HA! ;-)-

I thought that "Little Miss Sunshine" painted a grotesque portrait of pagents and parents gone awry. This site makes that film very tame by comparison. Twisted and criminal.

This is not a website that I would allow my daughters to visit. I am raising my daughters to eat healthy, stay active, and love their bodies the way they are. It is a battle that I intend on fighting every day for the sake of my daughters.

wow...i think they need to limit what can go on the internet...this is def. not helping girls, we already have the media telling us what to think and how people(girls) are supposed to look. Reinforcing this dieting and perfection is complete crap..i hope parents are being responsible

I agree!! No child should be forced to diet, remain skinny, or molded to fit into the stereotypical barbie image. It's sad that this is such a big issue in our society today.

I think if you're looking to change the eating habits and negative body image of young girls, then there's bigger targets than this comparitivley small site.
And whilst I don't agree with the site, the levels of hatred in the (British) media against the sites (French) creator is quite astonishing.
It just highlights how parents should be a part of their kid's lives, instead of plonking them in front of a computer to get a bit of peace and quiet. -
Ah, yes. The screen as babysitter. Seriously messed up.

Ok but where's the male parallel site? You know, something like "Mr. Douchebag" as opposed to "Miss Bimbo". On the Mr. Douchebag site you could make your douchebag treat women like shit, treat gay's like shit, treat your mom and dad like shit, treat your uncool friends like shit, and admire himself with extreme narcissism in a mirror. Maybe you could even get him penile implants, a third grade education, and a lack of social awareness. However, popped collars are definately required...as well as barbed wire tattoos around the bicep.

Stop encouraging us! Geeeeeeeez! Like, we don't have enough instruction in those areas as it is?

This is obviously way over the top, especially considering the diet pills and nightclub outfits thing. But if so many parents are getting up in arms over this, why aren't they angrier about shows/dolls like "Bratz," or even the unrealistic body images and importance of appearance portrayed in many Disney princess movies?
In one animated DVD Bratz movie,a fashion editor thinks eating carbs makes her "look fat," the girls sneak into clubs, and one character has had three nose jobs. The plot centers around the Bratz's goal of publishing their own fashion magazine, which will have such supposedly "helpful" articles as how to tell if your boyfriend is a dud and ways to be a "fashion do." There's also plenty of back-stabbing and rude behavior throughout.
We shouldn't be teaching this stuff to young girls! It's good that there's outrage over this site, but there needs to be more coverage of the products and entertainment marketed to children that aren't always so obviously screwed-up at first glance.
Also: where were the parents when boob jobs were being promoted to their nine year olds anyway?-

"Bratz" .... jesus ...where to start .... well , the only thing i can say about "Bratz" is that at least the masterminds behind it don't discriminate about who they want to look like ho's - there's black brat dolls , white ones , asian-esque ones...

Here's my issue with the site: obviously this is a site with adult themes, so how are young girls even able to access it? In either case, I'm quite disappointed that someone would even conceptualize such a thing. My nine year old cousin is already struggling with body image issues; the girl asked me which diet she should go on! The poor dear has barely hit puberty yet! We certainly don't need any more propaganda than we already have to encourage such behavior. This is disgusting.

Forgive me if this makes me kind of sick, but I was a little dissapointed that I couldn't get on to the MissBimbo site just now. I have to admit I was looking forward to seeing what my virtual breasts would look like a cup size later...thank goodness I am old enough and comfortable in my own skin, to not take a site like this seriously.
I was still playing with 'My Little Pony' aged 9! Mind you I'm sure there must be a site for horses worried about their filly's growing up wearing glitter and turning the colours of the rainbow at such a young age!-

Does no one think that this site was created out of pure irony?
Now I'm curious to see whether y'all think irony is sick or not. -
This might be the worst idea for a website I've ever come across.
This trash needs to be wiped from the web. -
Irony assumes that there's enough folks who get it.
Dumb ol' Irony. -
I havent played it but it seems to be satire directed @ adults...
-
when done well , irony is way sick - as it should be
-
I think it is important to give kids the tools they need to think critically about messages they perceive in the media. There are far more powerful influences than this site sending the message that underweight female bodies are what's considered attractive these days.
-
Satire...
-
this is the culture, an ironic website will not cause the downfall of today's youth. responsible parents will keep their kids away from this site if they don't want them on it, but supply and demand applies to nearly everything. pageviews are the profit of websites. if there's a demand for something, it will become available, and right now, sexuality in our media culture is demanded and its pervasive. we live in a time when somebody like Paris Hilton is an international celebrity and this website is somehow what's getting under people's skin? sigh...

let's be honest, most parents don't have a clue what their kids are looking at online, and they will see this, and the irony will not translate to their impressionable minds. It's retarded and a sad sign of what empty crap our world cares about.
-
it might be trash, but you cannot 'wipe it from the web.' not long after the thought police will then wipe the guy above me (tollster) for inappropriately using words like retarded.
be careful what you wish for...-

Makes ya ask -"What next?" Tweens will not see this as a game. They will take it to heart. I'm very familiar with that age grgoup and irony is totally lost on them. Ironic, isn't it?
I over-heard a conversation between two 11 year olds and one was telling the ohter to make sure to drink a full glass of water before each meal so she wouldn't eat so much and get fat. Now that is scary! -
I hope that all of the people who flame the MissBimbo web site realize that they are the reason for its recent success.
Also for those who think it promotes anorexia and being underweight. It says on the site that the proper weight for your Bimbo is 125 pounds. This is actually the proper HEALTHY weight for a woman of average height.
Please before you get offended by something at least take the time to do a little bit of research first.
