Jan, I think the Russians are on to something. Look at Cheney's recent trip to the Mideast. It looks just like their preparation for Iraq. They are trying to convince everyone Iran is building nukes even though they aren't. The recent Green Zone attack is being blamed on Iran. I will be surprised if it doesn't happen soon. Progressives and pro-peace activist should be prepared.

Uroborus, that article is more than a year old. It suggests that an attack was imminent LAST spring.

I'm not saying there is no chance these maniacs will bomb Iran, but I'd be a bit surprised at this point unless there was some major incident that they could spin. There was plenty of explicit warning prior to the Iraq war.

the cool thing is IRAN will mop the us right now. The us will rely on allies like they always do, and they will realize that head to head, their asses are toast. problem is that the war will be fought in iraq...mostly. and thats not good at all, but what it will do is cause problems for the us all over the world. Bahrain where the us fleet is docked..will be attacked by iranian subs (yes they have em!) iran's airforce is not terrible. they forced my pops' awacs plane down in 82' (most people dont know about that one...crash landed in saudi arabia) and this will give iran the excuse to cross the border into iraq and lay waste to the us compound. and although the military has secretly stashed troops in uzbekistan (if you remember thats where that us captain was kidnapped and her hair cut off i know this because my ex girlfriend was supposed to be sent to her unit right after....she refused she is in the airforce) and the west side of afghanistan.

the us cannot beat iran because iran will fight back. plus iran will attack the base out at diego garcia.. but the stupid thing is if you look at a map...the us fleet would be trapped in the gulf. and iran can simply launch endlessly againt them. iran is a big ass country. its bigger than any country they have fought before, and im telling you, its a losing battle. plus iran will fight! fuck a draft...im going to india. There are some that say the "attack" last spring was thwarted from inside the military. Could be it really was supposed to happen. Remember those nukes that accidentally got put on a plane and flown across America. Oops...did someone get caught with their hand in the cookie jar? how major was the WMD spin that got us into iraq? What was the explicit warning other than saying over and over again "WMD"? I guess one could say the upcoming election that posses a threat the Republican rule is a major situation.

well it's the inspired 'New American Century' right? interesting to see how suspect our own government is from yet another perspective. I'd be willing to bet the neo-cons had a secret scenario already sketched out, ready to put into play. And all this "posturing" of late about Iran (provoking them) was just to see if any political wind would mount behind those sails.

Last year retired Generals were coming out against Bush. I had heard the Generals were threatened with loosing their pensions if they kept speaking. Their voices are now silent.

It was reported that Admiral Fallon had worked to stop an attack on Iran. He recently resigned. Is anyone left to stand in their way? From their spinning, I think they are spinning another war and mainstream media keeps spinning facts they are fed.

No accountability for spinning us into war with Iraq, makes it all the easier to spin us into another war. Conyers stated that if George W. attacks Iran, he will move for impeachement. I say too little too late!

thanks for pointing out how complicit the media has been... here's a "rosy" stretch: maybe all the "great press" on Obama is their "quiet" way of righting the wrong they've done laying down on Iraq, and other constitutional issues important to real Americans??? you'd hope they have some conscience about the calamitous ramifications of their actions.

Anyway, you'd think today's news editors were cowering, inept, yuppie 20-somethings or other only too willing to take their cues from some Washington spokesman as the full story. It should be in the job description that all news-editors should be demanding, pushy, if rebellious chain-smoking mferz with ample attitude and fortitude to tell Murdoch and the White House to screw off when they're assuaged, told, or threatened not to act in the very certain public interest of truth and the sacrosanct rights and privileges of "freedom of the press."

Paranoia is when you haven't been proven right in the past. These guys led us into their war of choice, using proven fake documents. They outed a covert agent whose specialty was nuclear weapons. The drove out the admiral who said Iran wouldn't happen under his watch. They have replaced experts during a time of war and replaced them with followers who agree with their policies.

There has been no accountability for Iraq. What makes anyone think it couldn't happen again? Paranoia maybe, reality maybe? With what has happened to America during the past 7 years, a healthy dose of paranoia may be required.

Believe me, I would be the happy, to be wrong. I hope we are all wrong. But, conspiracy-theorists? Come on, the facts are there. They are beating the war drums. We aren’t making this shit up. There is a nuclear sub heading for the area, if not there already. We have carriers in the water. Plans have been on George W.'s desk for over a year. An attack could happen within 24 hours of his giving the order. They do have authorization to use tactical nukes. Nuclear bombs were carried live over America. By accident?

You can call people who state FACTS, conspiracy-theorists, but that doesn't change the FACTS. That's just name-calling! NA, NA, NA! School yard ethics. Facts are facts, spin is spin, distorting facts.
